Is Elliot Stable returning to Law & Order: SVU? TVLine reports Chris Meloni may return for the NBC TV show’s upcoming 21st season.
Meloni played Detective Elliot Stabler on the crime drama from seasons one through 12. The series currently stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Philip Winchester.
Although Meloni hasn’t announced return to Law & Order: SVU, showrunner Warren Leight says he’s hopeful the former star will reprise his role in the future:
Look: I assume that if some year, some decade, couple decades from now, we get to the last SVU, [Meloni] would have to come back before we do the last episode or before the show signs off.
It would be tricky, because it’s now been eight years since the characters were seen together. So how’d they get in touch? We haven’t seen it. Where has he been? How do you explain that? There are storytelling challenges to it.”
Season 21 of Law & Order: SVU premieres on NBC on September 26th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. ‘

While I really love the current cast, I would also like to see Elliott come back to the show. I also watch SVU on NBC, ION and USA, basically whenever it’s airing!
I stopped watching, when he left, its too grisly & sick now, maybe if he returns. But i doubt it.
I stopped watching once he left the show. I would gladly start watching again if he comes back.

I absolutely watch the show. From the beginning I was upset about Elliot leaving. I am beyond excited to know he may (will) return. Thank you in advance

I stopped watching after Stabler left although just caught up over the last six months. He was very missed and I always try to find ways in my head to see him walk back into the squad room or at Olivia’s door
I watch it and would love to see him return. Benson and Stabler were my favorite team.
I have watched every episode of SVU and I have been waiting for this announcement!! I would LIVE to see him come back!!

I watched every episode up until he left. Haven’t seen an episode since. I’ll watch if he returns…
I did the same for awhile, but I tuned back in after a couple of seasons and I found they were able to find a really good groove without Stabler. I’d say give these later seasons a fair shake. It takes some adjustment, but they’re just as addicting as previous seasons.
It would really be nice to see Elliot Stabler come in for 1 episode just like Alex Cabbit did. It would give us all some closure to his character
