Is Elliot Stable returning to Law & Order: SVU? TVLine reports Chris Meloni may return for the NBC TV show’s upcoming 21st season.
Meloni played Detective Elliot Stabler on the crime drama from seasons one through 12. The series currently stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Philip Winchester.
Although Meloni hasn’t announced return to Law & Order: SVU, showrunner Warren Leight says he’s hopeful the former star will reprise his role in the future:
Look: I assume that if some year, some decade, couple decades from now, we get to the last SVU, [Meloni] would have to come back before we do the last episode or before the show signs off.
It would be tricky, because it’s now been eight years since the characters were seen together. So how’d they get in touch? We haven’t seen it. Where has he been? How do you explain that? There are storytelling challenges to it.”
Season 21 of Law & Order: SVU premieres on NBC on September 26th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. ‘

Honestly, I would rather see Raul Esparza (Barba) and Tamara Tunie (M.E. Warner) back. Meloni is the man for sure, but he would need to come back under some weird circumstance. Like, a major family tragedy or some old perp he never caught etc… he won’t return as a cop.
I was happy when he left. Started watching it again. Like the cast as it is now
He was so perfect in his role. There were times I was afraid he’d have a stroke when he’d portray anger or outrage. Bring him back please.

Yes I would love to see Elliott Stabler come back but it doesn’t have to be for a finale. I would love to see him come back and be on the show a while before it ended . Like he could come back right now . He and Olivia made such a good team . But I love Fin too .
