Is Elliot Stable returning to Law & Order: SVU? TVLine reports Chris Meloni may return for the NBC TV show’s upcoming 21st season.
Meloni played Detective Elliot Stabler on the crime drama from seasons one through 12. The series currently stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Philip Winchester.
Although Meloni hasn’t announced return to Law & Order: SVU, showrunner Warren Leight says he’s hopeful the former star will reprise his role in the future:
Look: I assume that if some year, some decade, couple decades from now, we get to the last SVU, [Meloni] would have to come back before we do the last episode or before the show signs off.
It would be tricky, because it’s now been eight years since the characters were seen together. So how’d they get in touch? We haven’t seen it. Where has he been? How do you explain that? There are storytelling challenges to it.”
Season 21 of Law & Order: SVU premieres on NBC on September 26th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. ‘

Yes yes yes !!! Bring back stabler….its a good show and I watch faithfully but it’s not the same since he left!

Haven’t enjoyed show since he left. Stopped watching on regular basis several years ago. Would love to see him return. Less her, more him.
Oh my, I agree….show hasn’t been the same in that the new players always seem angry and violent….haven’t enjoyed it much last few yrs and do not watch it on a steady basis any longer. Miss the Stabler character.
Absolutely I want Christopher Meloni to return to the show. I don’t want the storyline to bring him back and just end up killing the character or having the character disgraced as a police officer and forced to leave. I hate when the storylines do that to a character like they did with past characters in this or other Law & Order shows. His character is a strong person to be admired rather than shamed in the show. I absolutely loved the series with Christopher Meloni and also love other movies or shows he’s played a part in I believe bringing him back would boost the show even more than before please bring Elliott Stabler back.
Yes, PLEASE bring Stabler back. His character was such a vital part of the story. No one cares when he’s been. Say he and his family moved away to get the family situation in shape and now they are back home.
Yes, yes, yes please come back Elliot. SUV fell to the bottom of my list since you left. The character chemistry was so powerful and has never been replaced since your departure.
I love the show and always have I hated it what Elliot left but people have to move on and I love his new show “Happy” but it would be great if he at least came back for a couple shows I think everyone out there would love it too
