(Silver Spring, MD) – Forget Old MacDonald! The Webnar family-turned-farmers are coming to TLC in the network’s newest series LITTLE LIFE ON THE PRAIRIE, premiering Monday, August 20 at 10/9c. Lauren, Nate and their four-year-old daughter Juniper Webnar were born with achondroplasia dwarfism, but that hasn’t stopped them from chasing big dreams. In search of a simpler life that’s more conducive to raising and expanding their family, the Webnars decided to move from the bustle of big-city living in California to a farm in the countryside of Arizona. In its six-episode run, TLC’s LITTLE LIFE ON THE PRAIRIE will follow the family’s effort to run a farm, adjust to country life and expand their family despite major health risks and medical challenges.
“Fitting in perfectly with our network’s mission to celebrate families from all walks of life, TLC is proud to share this emotional journey,” says Howard Lee, President and General Manager of TLC. “LITTLE LIFE ON THE PRAIRIE follows a period of major transition for the endearing Webnar family, including extreme highs, lows and relatable moments that our viewers love to connect with most.”
Nate Webnar was raised on a hobby farm in rural Wisconsin, while Lauren is a quintessential city girl with zero farm experience. Despite their differences, it was love at first sight, followed by marriage and baby. However, because of a genetic condition related to their dwarfism, Lauren and Nate’s pregnancies are at risk of inheriting both dwarfism genes, known as the fatal double-dominant syndrome. This has created a challenging and at times heartbreaking pregnancy journey: aside from Juniper, Lauren carried two babies to term that tragically did not survive long after birth.
Even still, Lauren and Nate have held fast to their wish of giving Juniper a sibling. Not only have they decided to pursue the risky ambition of starting a farm from scratch, but they will also be pursuing IVF with genetic testing to help ensure a healthy baby and finally expand their family.
Will the couple succeed as full-fledged farmers? And will they realize their dream of having more children? No matter the challenges, obstacles or disappointments they may face, the Webnar family is committed to realizing their family dreams on the prairie.
