Walt Longmire is a short-timer. Netflix has renewed its Longmire TV show for a sixth and final season. The first three seasons of the contemporary western crime thriller premiered on A&E. When the cabler cancelled the series, Netflix picked it up in November of 2014.
Based on the Craig Johnson mystery novel series, Longmire follows Absaorka County, Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor). Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Cassidy Freeman, Adam Bartley, and A. Martinez also star.

We are grateful to them and our friends at Warner Bros, who have been tremendous partners.”

Fans React to the News that Longmire will End After its Sixth Season on Netflix
While Netflix has doubled the drama’s cable run, fans (aka the Longmire Posse) have actively advocated for renewal in seasons past.
In the fall of 2015, they organized a social media “stampede,” to petition the streaming service for a fifth season. Netflix finally picked up season five, on Halloween 2015.
Today, the Longmire Posse’s Facebook post reflects both sadness and gratitude. Because the writers have an end date, the have the opportunity to craft a proper Longmire TV series finale. Check it out.
What do you think? Are you a Longmire fan? Is it ending at the right time? Sound off, in the comments.
I’m really going to miss Longmire and, of course, would love for the show to continue. I believe in miracles so I will continue to check to see if Longmire will be back in 2018. One can always hope.
Longmire is an excellent series, well written and wonderful cast – hate to see it go and hopefully they’ll stay around longer.
I have been waiting forever to see the final season, it seems so long in between.
It was well written, exciting, I loved all the characters and they all did a super job. I realize that all good things must come to an end, but I am really really sad that this one is. I hope we find out who killed longmire’s wife and see some happiness for some of these characters. Especially Longmire and his buddy – they must remain friends.
Both my husband and I are Longmire fans and we are so saddened to see it coming to an end soon. This is one of the best written shows and the actors are amazing portraying their roles. I’ve heard that they may be doing a series of movies in the future. I hope this is true. Long Live Longmire!
I am confused on how they say they ended it with closer. Walt is fighting to keep his ranch, Vic is pregnant and Henry is staked out to die. Seems like there are a lot of unanswered questions on how this is going to end. Cady’s vision in the sweat lodge left a lot of questions as well. Poorly handled since they had 10 episodes to end this the correct way.
Please don’t stop Longmire! It’s my favorite show.
Would Love To see More Seasons, At Least 10 Total Seasons
GRRRR !!!!!! why are you taken this show off the air.. don’t you know people really really enjoy this show… like Cher there said about unworthy REALITY shows taking up all prime time tv and they suck.. I like shows like Longmire and such REALITY tv is not even real tv…so please don’t let Longmire go away.
While I am grateful for another season to tie up the storylines, I am so saddened by it’s cancellation. Longmire is so well written, and the cast are beloved and portrayed quite brilliant. I think of all the unworthy Reality (lol) shows that take up space, yet a quality show is being taken away. It truly makes no sense to my brain. Are we really a society that no longer values this type of show? Do the people running programming really think we need more mindless entertainment? What show could possibly be better? There is room for quality and this… Read more »
I’m really glad Netflix gave Longmire another shot, but why cancel it now? It’s intelligent,well-written, & has great characters. Plus, too many questions & problems remain to be dealt with. Please reconsider.
What Longmire is being cancelled, this is why we have Netflix,I just don’t understand why you start a series and you don’t finish it out, this is a wholesome clean show that we love to watch, most shows on Netflix are not worth watching,we stay with clean wholesome shows,my husband will be upset about this,he may say cancelle Netflix…..please let there be a season 7.

Longmire, Rectify, and Ripper Street, hands down, my favorite shows. Now Longmire is going to be history. So sad< I could have watched this into my 80's!
