Lucifer may still have some life left. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. TV is shopping the cancelled FOX series around for a fourth season.
As reported earlier, the supernatural crime drama has been cancelled after three seasons. The cast includes Tom Ellis, Lauren German, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez, and Tom Welling.
Per Deadline, Lucifer‘s production studio Warner Bros. TV is interested in shopping the series around to other networks for a fourth season. Currently, Hulu owns the streaming rights to the show, so that’s one option. Additionally, the crime drama is based on a DC Comics property and DC is launching a new streaming service, DC Universe, later this year.
One of FOX‘s other cancelled series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, was recently picked up by NBC for another season, but will Lucifer have the same luck?
Ellis and others connected with the show have vowed to keep fighting to save the series. The actor who plays the show’s title character learned the news from showrunner Joe Henderson. Ellis had just attended a fan convention in Rome and was on a high. He was initially shocked and then devastated. When the cancellation news went public, he was overwhelmed by the uproar and love expressed by the fans.
He notes that the tsunami response has helped to create a conversation about saving the show. He notes that, “I don’t want to promise anything for anybody, because there are so many things that have to align for things to happen…,” he ventures. “But I didn’t have hope, and I do have hope now. And as long as there is hope, I will keep fighting. Because I think that’s what our fans want us to do.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Lucifer? Would you watch the series on another network or streaming service? Should it be saved?
I appreciate the religious humor. In saying that, I also see religious teachings and reminders of what can be classified as good versus evil.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BRING LUCIFER BACK AND BRING IT BACK. COME ON NBC DO THIS FOR ME, BECAUSE I CAN’T AFFORD TO GET HULU.
Yes, please more Lucifer!
USA TV stinks…200 channels of nothing…Lucifer was one of VERY few worth watching. Then you switched to 8:00. This is not an 8:00 story line. Once you did that…the writing and witting acting went downhill. This was an adult story…and you changed the winning story line. The actors and characters are fantastic. It’s not too late to change back to the winning story that you started with. I sure hope that it will be revived or picked up by someone else.
Absolutely, I would watch. Admit Season 3 was weak, but so much possibility in the Lucifer/mankind situation! Moral choices, theology, crime, justice, drama, romantic love, underbelly of current civilization…etc. i.e. Fantasy: God’s punishment for Lucifer’s rebellion was to send him down among humans (letting Lucifer think it was his own choice to take a vacay in LA), but actually Lucifer’s rebellion was GOD’s fault. Because Lucifer was favorite son, God gave Lucifer TOO MUCH “free choice”, made him TOO MUCH like humans (who possess and exercise free choice) thus, rebellion occurred, and he left Hell. without permission. Now what. …?… Read more »

Ditto Tracy’s comment. This show combines drama, comedy, and crime and has kept me guessing. I’m not ready for it to end!
