If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
Finally a show with some depth and a clearer understanding of what goes on behind the scenes in D.C. and it is cancelled just when we need it most.
It’s unbelievable that a popular show is at the mercy of shareholders and executives that have no interest in the public feelings but just share prices and costings. The rubbish they produce on what seems a whim demonstrates this attitude. So many good shows have gone this way and it is not only CBS who treat the public with contempt. I hope Netflix or Amazon pick it up.
We haven’t missed a show since started. Why don’t they cancel the crap shows?
I would watch an infinite number of seasons. The program is excellent in combining the personal and professional lives of the characters in an enlightening manner. Great special effects too.
I LOVE this show, gives our GIRLS hope, motivation, and encouragement to succeed and hold fast to what they feel is right!!! Please DO NOT CANCEL.
Would love season 7. Great show. Very sad you have chosen not to renew. 10 episodes in season 6is not enough
The guys who make the decisions are not in tune with the show’s fans. For my money one of the best shows on TV. Just a great story-line that, while fictional and dramatized (that’s OK by me), nevertheless is highly topical in confronting true-to-life issues of the day. Every character is believable (though obviously dramatized as i have already said). I am really sad and disappointed to hear that CBS are shutting it down. What else is there to watch in a similar vein, probably nothing? Surely the show can continue into a new phase of Madam President. While i… Read more »
Typical cancellation of a well liked series. Shame on you guys for pulling it. I would watch this series as long as it runs.
I would of watched season 7. Don’t cancel. .
Great show! One if not my favorite shows! Strong woman in lead shouldn’t be they are cancelling it! Guess the network doesn’t want to continue during 2020 elections …sad!
I won’t be continuing with CBS. I enjoyed this show and would have watched more. They high lighted many problems with government today.
I had a sister named Kathleen Stonestreet who passed away recently in MA. Any relationship that you know of?
So sorry to hear the show is ending. Would have liked to see the excellent writing and acting go head to head with the real life 2020 campaign. Surely the show would have been real competition. Once again only the best dramas are cancelled.
I couldn’t agree more. Thanx for saying it all better than I might. As always, I eagerly await each new episode – and frequently re-watch them. I am devastated since I’m almost a shut-in! And there are so few well written shows on these days that aren’t just shoot-’em-ups… seems they are willingly driving us to venues where the ads don’t kill the program.
should be continued my favorite show
PLEASE don’t end this show unless you spin it off to Madam President.
Love this show. Sad to see it go.
