Despite pretty low ratings in the prized 18-49 demographic, CBS has kept Madam Secretary on the air. How will it do in season three? Will the numbers go up or down? Will the series be cancelled or is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed to make sure it has enough episodes for syndication? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) is the shrewd and determined Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy. She battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. The cast also includes Tim Daly, Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Wallis Currie-Wood, Kathrine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best sign of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/23 update: Madam Secretary has been renewed for season four on CBS. Details here.
5/22 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Madam Secretary averaged a 1.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.10 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Madam Secretary TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season four on CBS?

It’s definitely one of my favorite shows. I hope they don’t ever cancel. Makes me glad I didn’t go into politics
Seriously one of the worse shows I’ve ever seen, with the most inane and boring premise. Little more than propaganda for Hillary’s campaign, and that’s coming from a liberal. Please CBS STAHP!
I am a 68 year old, male. Our householfld, all adult Ma/Ms+ education all think of Madame Secretary as a must watcg/ favorite program.
So do I and what’s with polling 18-49 age group. Must not think people in their 60s watch TV. Oh maybe we’re supposed to watch cooking shows or whatever they think older people should watch because we’re too stupid to watch action shows. Give me a break!!!
I really love this show can’t stop watching it . Watching it over and over again so if I missed something the frist time I get it . Please make season 4 love all the actress.
My family and I enjoy watching the show and hope that it is renewed for another season.
I love this show. Hope it continues.
Please renew Madam Secretary! There are very few Tv shows that we enjoy watching any longer! We look forward to watching each week even if we have to watch it recorded rather than live tv.

I certainly hope Madame Secretary is renewed. It’s one of my all-time favourites. Quite a few of my family and friends watch and agree!
A great show with strong writing, stronger characters who are smart without being arrogant and stories we wish were happening now instead of the nightmare we’re presently living where not one of the previous comments is true.
This show should be cancelled. There is hardly any action. Leoni acting leaves much to be desired. Showing the Philipine President in a bad light should be the nail in the coffin of this show. Why not show a little bit action on the US President “Affairs” to make it interesting else this show is toast.
My favorite show in many years (and Im a baby boomer that leans far to the right). The only noteworthy floors have to do with scheduling not the production
I love this show and look forward to it every week. I hope they continue it!
I love the show and would definitely vote that CBS renew it next season!
The ratings on this show get worse and worse and worse. CBS must cancel. Nobody will buy this for syndication.
I absolutely love the show. Please renew it.
