CBS won’t be back to The Big Easy for the 2021-22 television season. The network has decided to cancel the NCIS: New Orleans TV series and end it with the current seventh year.
NCIS: New Orleans stars Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and CCH Pounder. Set in The Big Easy, the series revolves around a local NCIS field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel. Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Bakula) is a New Orleans native, is driven to do what’s right, and leads the office. Pride’s team, inside and out of the office, includes tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Ferlito); Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund (Kerkovich); anti-social Special Agent Quentin Carter (Davis); Jefferson Parish Coroner Doctor Loretta Wade (Pounder), Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame (Mitchell); and international counter-intelligence expert Special Agent Hannah Khoury (Zadegan).
Airing on Sunday nights, the seventh season of NCIS: New Orleans averages a 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.84 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Eight episodes have aired thus far.
Of the series coming to a close, Deadline reports that Bakula said, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way… I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
“It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” said executive producers and showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”
It was also announced today that CBS’ Mom sitcom is also ending this season. It’s also been reported that the network is considering a new NCIS spin-off set in Hawaii.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: New Orleans TV series? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled and wasn’t renewed for an eighth season?
Please don’t cancel. NOLA one of the better shows and great cast. Another disappointment
I agree. I think all businesses have been affected by the covid plague including the entertainment business. CBS should have given NCIS New Orleans one more season to see if those stupid ratings would go up. Everyone’s schedule and mood are messed up. CBS is sometimes too quick to cut.
So disappointed! We have really loved this show and all of the actors/characters and will really miss them!
Very very sad to see Nola end we watch every sat with ncis la love them both love the actors and actresses must keep it great show
We will miss NCIS:NewOrleans. Having traveled and spent time in many cities across this, the third rock from the sun; it was always enjoyable to reminisce about the good and bad sites we visited when they would appear in a TV series. That was one of the incentives to watch the multiple NCIS group of shows (even reruns). The 2019 state statistics indicate visitors (worldwide) to the Crescent City exceeded 19 plus million verses 10 plus million to Hawaii. Having visited both locations many times, it is my opinion the ROI to undertake a long term NCIS:Hawaii production project, at this… Read more »
I think it’s a great mistake to end this great show based on numbers from this year. Good heaven’s, people are struggling to survive! They are not watching TV. How many had no power to watch TV. I’m very disappointed!
I’m so disappointed to see NCIS New Orleans being canceled. I love the show and especially the cast. Any show headed by Scott Bakula is always going to have me watching, he’s one of my favorite actors How about moving NCIS NOLA to a weekday night? Sunday isn’t the best night.
I faithfully watch NCIS: New Orleans, including reruns.Of course, Lucas Black is missed but this show re.ai s a top notch show that I will sorely miss.
This show was getting to be boring and I wasn’t watching it as much so I am not sad to see it go. I am looking forward to the new NCIS Hawaii series.
Love the show. I think the shift to 10 pm Sunday night was the network’s dumb move of the year.
PLEASE DON’T CANCEL! This is my favorite show and have been sorely disappointed at how few episodes this season because of Covid. This has been a very strange season and I think it deserves at least another season to see a more “normal” year.
It sucks that you are cancelling NOLA. That is about the only program I watch on CBS. Sorry but most everything else except NCIS is not worth being on the air. CBS has lost their touch and now gou are cancelling one of the best. Not sensible.
im pissed i like all ncis tv show .been watching all ncis .ncisla and ncisnew orleans from the start ..dont care about a spinoff i want them to keep the 3 they have ..it doesnt surprise me at all its cbs .not the 1rst time they remove something good.they should have kept new orleans on a tuesday right after ncis as it was before ..every show that is put on sunday get cancel cz of rating cz its always late getting on cz of sports running late .thats is what cbs always do when they need to get rid of… Read more »
I agree they can keep the new one, I won’t be watching it. I love NOLA and the cast is awesome, love the new fling and Prides wedding and son. CBS makes no sense to me.
Hooray, take Los Angeles with it too. Too many characters and now terrible story lines.
Covid and BLM has done me a favour.
Please don’t bother with a NCIS: Hawaii.
I won’t be tuning in.
SWAT and Seal Team have improved immensely by tackling important issues.
Long Live NCIS!
Sad that this show is ending. Love the show, love all the characters!! Been an NCIS fan from the beginning
Not surprised. They keep having Pride see things and people that aren’t there. And this season, along with the other NCIS and FBI shows, the antagonists are almost exclusively White supremacists, White gangs, bad cops, racists, etc. I’m not White but it’s obvious to me that writers/showrunners are pushing an agenda.
Dropped it after last season. Sadly, LA is going the same way. They see WS around every corner, unlike in real life. Happens to all these shows after too many seasons.
