CBS won’t be back to The Big Easy for the 2021-22 television season. The network has decided to cancel the NCIS: New Orleans TV series and end it with the current seventh year.
NCIS: New Orleans stars Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and CCH Pounder. Set in The Big Easy, the series revolves around a local NCIS field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel. Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Bakula) is a New Orleans native, is driven to do what’s right, and leads the office. Pride’s team, inside and out of the office, includes tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Ferlito); Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund (Kerkovich); anti-social Special Agent Quentin Carter (Davis); Jefferson Parish Coroner Doctor Loretta Wade (Pounder), Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame (Mitchell); and international counter-intelligence expert Special Agent Hannah Khoury (Zadegan).
Airing on Sunday nights, the seventh season of NCIS: New Orleans averages a 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.84 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Eight episodes have aired thus far.
Of the series coming to a close, Deadline reports that Bakula said, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way… I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
“It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” said executive producers and showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”
It was also announced today that CBS’ Mom sitcom is also ending this season. It’s also been reported that the network is considering a new NCIS spin-off set in Hawaii.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: New Orleans TV series? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled and wasn’t renewed for an eighth season?
What does CBS expect ? They moved NCIS NOLA to Sunday night opposite NFL football !!!! And now are disappointed in ratings ????? This is the best spinoff of the franchise. I stopped watching NCIS LA years ago ! And I started watching with the first year of JAG!
STUPID !
Terribly sorry to hear the demise OF NCIS NEW ORLEANS. I always looked forward to its return every year. I have followed Scott on the TV ever since I discovered him in 1989, and met him twice, lovely man! Can’t understand why original NCIS continues and yet this fast action franchise is put out to pasture. I guess something has to be sacrificed to make way for the new show in Hawaii, but recon that will just be a replacement for 5’O I think that’s me finished with the NCIS franchise!!
Yes, I like NCIS, sad to see it being cancelled. I think the pandemic is the reason viewers are not watching it on Sunday nights, should be given another season to see if viewers will get back to watching it.
I have to admit that I haven’t enjoyed every show as much since all this COVID nonsense started. I can’t stand watching people with the masks on. I watch TV shows to escape from every day crap, I don’t need COVID creeping into the TV shows!
sad to see that ncis is being canceled of all the ncis shows it is my favorite
any chance it could come back at a new time and/or day please reconsider
My and I watched NCIS New Orleans every week. Very disappointed to see it cancelled.
As is the situation with Mom, CBS cancels a show that is only down 22%. Are there too many high dollar contracts they want out of? Scott Bakula is a gem & they have assembled a great diverse cast. And really, New Orleans??? A great setting for all the different types of crimes they come across. And the music. Another bone headed decision we, their viewers, are not privy too. Sad.
In a world where we keep hearing people scream how important diversity is, never mind having an actual actor who is wheel chair bound playing a character that is wheel chair bound, cancelling NCIS:NO was a ridiculous decision. You nailed it. I don’t watch this show every single week, but it is great to binge watch at night.
So sad to see them go, love the cast.
I am sooo very disappointed that CBS is cancelling NCIS New Orleans. I have watched the show from the beginning. I even get up early to watch re-runs on another channel during the week. Is there any way to keep this show going, like maybe put it back on Thursday night, the original night.
Love NCIS NOLA. You’re canceling s great show and keeping garbage.
They have lots of garbage on CBS. Good call.
I agree with you that NCIS New orleans was the best and I’m not saying that because I live in Louisiana I used to live in new Orleans that’s where I was born and raised let’s make a petition to keep it on the air.
I am disappointed that CBS is cancelling NCIS: New Orleans. I have been watching this show from the very beginning. CBS is good for cancelling good shows. Please reconsider your decision CBS. Maybe another network can pick it up. It was a big mistake to air it on Sundays. I agree that all NCIS shows should air on one night other than Sunday. Both FBI series and Chicago series air in the same night and the ratings are really good.
Disappointed!! Love this show!!
The news of the cancellation of NICS New Orleans has really disappointed me, when I’ve watch all the franchise of the NCIS programmes. Please CBS reconsider.
I think CBS screwed up they should all NCIS on the same night they have had mega hits on their hands.
I am so disappointed they have not renewed the NCIS NEW ORLEANS series. It was by far one of our favorites. I knew when they put it on Sunday night that it would not make it. It was too hard to get it taped because of the football games that always ran longer than allowed. It just is not fare that we can’t do anything about this.
I agree with you. Sunday nights are a killer for shows. I really do hate football. I vote to keep NCIS NEW ORLEANS and cancel football.
I hate that they have cancel a great show CBS could have canceled other shows instead!
