CBS won’t be back to The Big Easy for the 2021-22 television season. The network has decided to cancel the NCIS: New Orleans TV series and end it with the current seventh year.
NCIS: New Orleans stars Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and CCH Pounder. Set in The Big Easy, the series revolves around a local NCIS field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel. Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Bakula) is a New Orleans native, is driven to do what’s right, and leads the office. Pride’s team, inside and out of the office, includes tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Ferlito); Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund (Kerkovich); anti-social Special Agent Quentin Carter (Davis); Jefferson Parish Coroner Doctor Loretta Wade (Pounder), Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame (Mitchell); and international counter-intelligence expert Special Agent Hannah Khoury (Zadegan).
Airing on Sunday nights, the seventh season of NCIS: New Orleans averages a 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.84 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Eight episodes have aired thus far.
Of the series coming to a close, Deadline reports that Bakula said, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way… I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
“It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” said executive producers and showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”
It was also announced today that CBS’ Mom sitcom is also ending this season. It’s also been reported that the network is considering a new NCIS spin-off set in Hawaii.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: New Orleans TV series? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled and wasn’t renewed for an eighth season?
Very disappointed that it is being cancelled. I watch all 3 ncis shows and love them all but not thrilled about the Hawaii in the making.
Breaks my heart to hear one of the best, and different, shows won’t be back. I continue to be stunned by what’s happening on the tv. Superheroes and bleck programs are all that’ll be left soon.
I like this show. You rely on too much on the wrong demographics. You should expand the demographics because the realty stuff is too orchestrated and not really real. It’s like the old WWF wrestling.
Why NCISNO???? Don’t want to lose this show. Love the characters – how they interact and care for each other. I think
CBS had this planed right along when they moved it to Sunday – it was the kiss of death. PLEASE RECONSIDER !!!!! Its one of the best shows on TV.
((insert expletive here)) I can’t say I’m surprised to see the network’s decision but I will sincerely miss this terrific show.
Can’t believe NCIS: NOLA is canceled! One of my favorite shows!! Wish CBS would realize there are so many outside of their demographic age that spend a lot of advertising dollars. So tired of reality shows where there’s only confrontation and disrespect.
Don’t want to see this show end. Love it and the actors. Move it to another slot that works, then.
A great show with wonderful actors. I didn’t care for this time slot. Please don’t cancel, just change the day…..
I agree with Kathy, please don’t end NCIS New Orleans but instead move it to a different time slot. I really enjoy watching all the great characters. It’s a great show
Please don’t cancel….love this show. I watch NCIS and NCIS New Orleans. Why don’t you cancel LA instead?
Very disappointed. Loved NCIS New Orleans. Because of all the Sunday sports specials, football etc. Sunday night is not a good slot for any show on CBS.
I’m in Canada and love NCIS NEW ORLEANS Are we counted in your ratings???
No they only count USA ages 18-49 knowing other countries watch and people over 49 watch TV shows!
Sad—CBS is ignoring older people and what they like to watch. I tape NCIS NOLA & when it moved to Sunday night, that became a problem because of football. So, now I tape all the re-runs, too, so that I can watch this great show.
That is why the TV shows they tend to keep and the new ones are not fit to watch!
Leave New Orleans on the air…but you need to get rid of the NCIS Los Angeles one, has been bad for 2 seasons now, they don’t even have bosses, what happened???
The actor who plays Hetti was injured. Haven’t read anything about her since but she made a very brief appearance. It appears that Nell may be the next boss.
Please do NOT cancell this. It is my favorite show. Should be moved back to another time slot. Would be better to cancell NCIS-Los Angeles
No cancel the first NCSI which no one really watches. After the first six years they should have canceled it.
Ncis no is one of my favorites. Bad time slot excellent show. All the good shows are being taken off. Bunch of crap is on tv anymore. Bad choice cbs, bad choice!!
I have to agree with that crap part. Too many uninteresting, dumb shows on. Reduces my viewing time.
