CBS won’t be back to The Big Easy for the 2021-22 television season. The network has decided to cancel the NCIS: New Orleans TV series and end it with the current seventh year.
NCIS: New Orleans stars Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and CCH Pounder. Set in The Big Easy, the series revolves around a local NCIS field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel. Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Bakula) is a New Orleans native, is driven to do what’s right, and leads the office. Pride’s team, inside and out of the office, includes tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Ferlito); Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund (Kerkovich); anti-social Special Agent Quentin Carter (Davis); Jefferson Parish Coroner Doctor Loretta Wade (Pounder), Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame (Mitchell); and international counter-intelligence expert Special Agent Hannah Khoury (Zadegan).
Airing on Sunday nights, the seventh season of NCIS: New Orleans averages a 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.84 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Eight episodes have aired thus far.
Of the series coming to a close, Deadline reports that Bakula said, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way… I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
“It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” said executive producers and showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”
It was also announced today that CBS’ Mom sitcom is also ending this season. It’s also been reported that the network is considering a new NCIS spin-off set in Hawaii.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: New Orleans TV series? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled and wasn’t renewed for an eighth season?
My husband and I are 76 years old. We love NOLA and will miss it very much. All the stars are great. There are so many new series that only produce sex and violence but this program had great stores with little violence to make the stories work. Sorry to see you go.
I watch thi program every week and enjoy it. There are very few shows i watch on the regular channels. Maybe it is time to quit watching CBS.
NCIS New Orleans is my favorite of the NCIS shows. I love the cast and the music. Why cancel it?
Sorry to see NCIS New Orleans go — good cast and scripted stories. I’ve watched it since it began and would vote for it to stay on.
Yes, I never miss a new show or reruns. Hate to see it end
So wrong to cancel this show. Great tor the Hawaii I’ve so why can’t we have all of them? It’s sad to take off such good shows. What’s happening to this tv world?
Say it ain’t so… Tough with so many cast changes along the way (I particularly miss Christopher…) If they reconsider I’d be pleased – hey, maybe move some/all of the team to Hawaii for the potential new series?! (LOL)
Admittedly, there would be serious music culture shock, but consider the possibilities – Pride could retire there (that’s been coming for awhile) and find a new bar in which to hang his NCIS cap…
No. New Orleans is one of the “characters” in this show and one reason it is so good.
I loved (past tense) the show until the past few years. I still watched, but they became too focused on social issues and being politically correct.
Of course CBS canceled ncis new Orleans that’s what they do when shows get to popular & people really start enjoying watching their favorite characters ever week. This show was my favorite ncis of all very sad & disappointed that CBS has canceled it.
NCIS is my favorite show, and NCIS NOLA is a close second. I’m a big fan of Scott Bakula too, so I am very sad to see this show end.
Our Family Loves this Show !!!!!!! have become Extremely Disappointed with the Network Channels that have Cancelled So Many Great Shows in the Past Four Years I finally am changing over to some Streaming Channels! Also found some of My Favorites on Streaming Channels rather than worrying if My go to TV is getting Cancelled! Cable is not Cheap so why pay high cost to enjoy Favorites to only fine them cancelled!
“Cancelled”? Well, I guess this means no three-way crossover with the other two “NCIS” shows (“Washington DC” and “Los Angeles”), EVER. If it weren’t for that stupid COVID nightmare virus pandemic, such a crossover would have already happened by now (likely earlier this season), and “NCIS: New Orleans”‘s episode count would be at a similar level to “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” (though one episode less, because “NCIS: NO”‘s first season had 23 episodes while all the others would’ve had 24). And anytime a show on CBS ends up on Sundays at 10, It’s bye-bye, good ratings! Now I see… Read more »
Cable is going away everything within six months will be done by streaming only. CBS can forget me ever streaming their junk. This, Mom are great shows, the first NCSI was over 11 years ago but now 18 years with lowest ratings.
If a show is moved to Sunday for CBS they always cancel it. Not thinking Sunday is a great time for programming.
I think CBS is simply not listening to the watchers. This show like Mom has plenty of life left in it. NCSI 18 years I stopped watching 10 years ago yet they keep that low show. As to hawaii really like Hawaii 5-0 was not enough.
