Can Doctor Goodwin change the medical system — and get people to watch the NBC series? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like New Amsterdam is cancelled or renewed for season two. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustrated that their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we’d like to offer you the chance to rate all the season one episodes of New Amsterdam. *Status update below.
A medical drama series, New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. Doctor Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring and charming physician whose goal is to fix a broken medical system and to provide exceptional care to the people who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him, and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital.

2/4/19 Status Update: NBC has renewed New Amsterdam for a second season.
I love this show. I am very happy New Amsterdam has been renewed. Both NBC & Fox (The Resident), have a great medical show. I do have one complaint though, the music in New Amsterdam is drowning out many conversations!! This show is not the only one at fault regarding the music drowning out and interfering with the monologue; it is happening on many of the other productions too!! Perhaps someone should “rap” every producers knuckles regarding the music interfering with the actor/actress’ lines after all the storylines are more important then the background music!!
The stories are fine BUT the background music snare drumming is driving me crazy!!!
Totally love the show. It’s like a great book you just can’t put down. Once the show is over you can’t wait for the next episode to begin!

Loved the early episodes. Recently, it seems more predictable. Would love to see more of his personal life with new baby. My only negative comment is the annoying constant drumming in the background. What hospital has noisy drumming going on in the midst of life and death scenarios???? Sometimes I just have to turn to another station to get relief from the noise. It’s also difficult to hear the dialogue with the noise from the drums. Eliminate the noise and I’ll be a forever fan!
We ABSOLUTELY love Max. Love the friendship between Max and Dr.Sharpe. Love ALL OF the characters on the show. PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW GOING !!!!!
Like the show but think the constant emphasis on Max and Sharp is getting old. Really a reach to think of her being his oncologist or soulmate or whatever anyway. Hope they bring back Bloom and other characters.

Awesome show, love the main character. great medicle drama have delt with squamous cancer with my husband. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for 2nd series
Absolutely Love the cast! The bald Indian Doctor is a riot! The shrink the oncologist the super hansom and tall black Doctor and then the Star of the series, I could go on and on about the cast funny sometimes sad real Life and circumstances keep it going

Here is another show that I look forward to watching when it becomes available on Hulu. It is one of the best, next to The Good Doctor, hospital shows out there. I don’t have any idea why this show would be cancelled as it has a lot going on along with the personal situations tied into the mix. The Good Doctor and New Amsterdam are the best!
We love this show and look forward to it continuing.
