Can Doctor Goodwin change the medical system — and get people to watch the NBC series? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like New Amsterdam is cancelled or renewed for season two. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustrated that their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we’d like to offer you the chance to rate all the season one episodes of New Amsterdam. *Status update below.
A medical drama series, New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. Doctor Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring and charming physician whose goal is to fix a broken medical system and to provide exceptional care to the people who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him, and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital.

Very predictable, feel good hospital drama. Heard it referred to This Is Us in a hospital. Seems fans have been waiting for Max and Helen to be a romantic couple all through season 1. Now, since they killed off Max’s wife this can finally happen. Show could actually be renamed the Max and Helen hour since their relationship has been the major emphasis of the show since midway through season 1. Short story lines have sometimes been given to other characters due to the developing relationship emphasis of the 2 main stars. Helen is virtually in every scene with Max.
They didn’t kill off his wife. Do you even watch the show? We don’t even know if Helen is alive right now. Stop reviewing stuff you haven’t seen

Finale was dramatic with a childbirth scene. Season ended on a downer, though, since they appeared to have killed off Georgia (Max’s wife) in the ambulance accident. This may have been the plan all along so that Max has a child to raise in season 2. Fans of “Sharpwin” are happy since Max is now free to be with Helen.

Show is really pushing the romance between Max and Sharp. Every promo and virtually every scene has them together. There are some other fine actors in this series but they only get limited story lines. I guess this is because most of the people watching this show are only watching to see romantic scenes between them. I’m 25 yrs old. A romance between two forty year old doctors is not something that holds that much appeal even if they are both attractive. Hope they at least try to bring in some younger guest stars. Great Drama
Liked this show for the first couple of episodes. Initially watched because I liked Ryan Eggold in Blacklist. Unfortunately, it has become just another medical soap opera with a political agenda. The fact that Max has developed an obvious desire to be with a female medical colleague other than his pregnant wife is a turn off for me. In the finale he is going to choose whether to save his wife or baby. I wouldn’t want to play the role of the wife.
I love New Amsterdam and I am glad that there is going to be a second season!! Ryan Eggold is outstanding! Love him!! Only problem I have is they better not kill off Max’s wife Georgia! If the writers put Sharp and Max together I may stop watching as I know of a lot of other people will stop watching also!! Please NBC read your posts!!
I really liked New Amsterdam at first. Slowly the political agenda of the show became abundantly clear. Socialism is the savior, Ms Bingham and the hospital board are the enemy. And I’m afraid the writers are going to kill off Max’s wife to he can hook up with Dr Sharpe. So renewed or not, I’m done. I’m tired of shows pushing an agenda. I watch to be entertained.
I really love this show. Ryan Eggold does an amazing job and I’m really drawn in each week.
