WGN America is still pretty new to producing their own original dramas so it was unclear how bad the ratings would have to be before they cancelled a show. Now that they’ve cancelled Manhattan, we have a better idea. Will Outsiders be the second to go or, will it be renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A drama series, Outsiders is set in the rugged hills of Appalachia and follows the Farrell clan. They are a tight-knit family of renegades who have lived atop Shay Mountain for over two hundred years and are at odds with those who live outside of their community. The cast includes David Morse, Thomas M. Wright, Ryan Hurst, Joe Anderson, Gillian Alexy, Kyle Gallner, Christina Jackson, Francie Swift, and Phyllis Somerville.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
3/11 update: WGN America has renewed Outsiders for a second season. Details here.

What do you think? Do you like the Outsiders TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please renew! I admit I wasn’t sure about the series after the first episode. There was so much action, edited so quickly, it was hard to get involved with any of the characters, except the Deputy Sheriff. Beginning with the second episode, the characters started becoming relatable. Since the fourth episode, the DVR is now set to record the entire season.
I love this show. DO NOT cancel it. It’s getting better every week.
Absolute trash. WGN is seeking to appeal to the regressive, illiterate, and ugly side of modern Americanism, with skewed notions of personal liberty carved out of some mystical “natural sovereignty”.
It’s writing is akin to professional wrestling. Sullen Ryan Hurst thinks he can stake a whole career on a beard and a passive gaze. David Morse’s talents are wasted.
This is USA in decline.
Sorry, I think Peter is wrong to imbue his version of natural sovereignty as what’s wrong with America. It’s not the commoner, but the banksters who have exercised their notion of ‘personal liberty’ by emptying the national piggy bank and being thoroughly “Modern Americans” busting our economy, in a regressive, economically illiterate and UGLY way. The OUTsiders is sheer entertainment & I love Ryan Hurst. He’s both a modern day Cool Hand Luke & yet an accessible character! The show touches lightly with subtle disdain as to the excesses of our modern economy in multiple scenes by showing that enjoyment… Read more »

I liked the show…watched the first three episodes and I wish I could continue to watch. Sadly I do not have WGN … I think that is the biggest problem..great show but not enough people can watch…wish it were on another network .. Fox CW or even TNT or USA so I could enjoy
Love it. I am a huge Ryan Hurst fan.
