What’s This TV Show About?
A scripted OWN comedy series, The Paynes stars Cassi Davis Patton, LaVan Davis, Jackée Harry, Stephanie Charles, Markice Moore, JD McCrary, Sanai Victoria, and Anthony O. Dalton. The sitcom centers on Ella and Curtis Payne (Davis Patton and Davis). He’s a somewhat brash, retired fire chief, while she’s a patient, long-suffering homemaker. Retirement isn’t all smooth sailing for them, and amidst the laughter they experience plenty of lows along with the highs.

Tyler Perry has been a successful producer for the Oprah Winfrey Network — so much so that OWN ordered 38 episodes when it picked up The Paynes to series. Since this show is a spin-off of his long-lived comedy, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, I expect a renewal. I will update this page with breaking developments. Please bring The Paynes back. It is a very funny show with plenty of teachable moments as well. It is a wonderful stress reliever, if only for 30 minutes. I hope the execs at the OWN station will reconsider their decision.
