What’s This TV Show About?
A CBS crime drama from creators Frank Spotnitz and David Vainola, Ransom stars Luke Roberts, Sarah Greene, Brandon Jay McLaren, and Nazneen Contractor. The mystery thriller centers on crisis and hostage negotiator Eric Beaumont (Roberts). He and his team save lives which often seem beyond saving, in part, because Eric understands criminals better than they understand themselves. Exploiting his powers of manipulation, Eric eschews using violence, even in the most dangerous kidnappings and ransom cases. Psych-profiler Oliver Yates (McLaren), former police officer Zara Hallam (Contractor), and investigator Maxine Carlson (Greene) form the team that backs up Beaumont.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Ransom averaged a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.45 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 39% and 29%, respectively. Find out how Ransom stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Will CBS cancel or renew Ransom for season three? The show has done well internationally so it could be renewed with or without CBS’ interest in a third season. On Saturday nights, Ransom draws about the same ratings as CBS’ “crimetime” reruns so I suspect they’d have to get a good deal to purchase another season. Get rid of the empty reality shows. Keep Random…good story lines. It’s interesting to see how negotiators do their job.
I like this show. One thing that bugs me is they never run previews for the next episode(s), instead showing a mash-up of the pilot & previously seen episodes. That could certainly raise viewership.
It is ridiculous that so many reality tv shows remain and Taken not renewed. Hard to believe other tv shows have more viewers?? Who do you poll?? Taken is a great show! Watching tv is difficult due to so many shows revolve around sex and vulgarity. But not Taken! Of course you would cancel it…
Please keep Ransom. This show has great stories and cast. It is much like Criminal Minds,
with the profiling and solving of crimes. Great show
I heard that they did renew Ramsom for another Season just recently.
I think that happen last year for season two, CBS could be waiting for the other countries to see, if they’re going to renew it. Keep the fingers cross!
I enjoy watching the show Ransom each week they have had some very realistic instances that are believable and can be negotiable. Please keep this show. It seems that CBS and NBC has been cancelling the shows that people actually enjoy and that make sense. I know that I am just one out of millions but I am praying that this one person does punt for something. Thank you and God Bless.
