TNT recently premiered a new police drama, Rizolli & Isles, starring Angie Harmon. Will the TV show be a big success or be cancelled like her last detective series, Women’s Murder Club?
In Rizzoli & Isles, tough detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) teams up with serious forensic pathologist Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander). The rest of the cast includes Bruce McGill, Lee Thompson Young, Lorraine Bracco, and Jordan Bridges.
The show debuted on July 12th, with a lead-in from The Closer. The series premiere attracted a 1.5 in the demo and 7.55 million viewers. Not only is that an excellent sampling but it nearly tied its established lead-in and came in third place among all of the week’s cable shows. It set a record as the highest-rated debut for a commercial-supported cable series.

In week two, Rizzoli & Isles actually beat The Closer’s demo numbers. The episode again drew a 1.5 rating in the demo but total viewers slid to 7.27 million. For week three, on Monday night, viewership dropped — to a 1.3 in the demo and 6.548 million viewers.
While the ratings are still very good for the cable series, this week’s ratings drop is not a good sign. Hopefully it’s not the start of a trend. You may recall that TNT’s Raising the Bar also set ratings records when it debuted. After just two seasons, it was cancelled. It remains to be seen if Rizolli & Isles will follow in its footsteps.

Keep it!!! The show has great potential and the cast is absolutely superb. I enjoyed the first three episodes and I am excited to see how the storyline will develop. I definitely think TNT should give it a shot.

As an avid reader of this series, TNT would benefit extremely from keeping this TV series. Keep in mind that readers of this specialty also read series such as Dexter and True Blood.
What have these done for HBO and Showtime? Promotes their ratings extremely! Wouldn’t it be nice to have TNT in the same category? Keep this in mind when deciding to keep the series or cancel it………………….
Unfortunately, I would say cancel it. After seeing the first three episodes I’ve seen nothing original. Angie Harmon is playing the same single strong willed female detective she portrayed on Women’s Murder Club. I like Sasha Alexander, but she’s playing a weaker version of Temperance Brennan from ‘Bones’. I think Bruce McGill has been wasted so far and Lorraine Bracco deserves better than the stereotypical overbearing Italian mother. I can’t say I hate the show but they haven’t added anything to the characters. We’ve seen these types of characters and shows before and we’ve seen them done better.

I vote affirmatively for Rizzoli and Isles. Two very excellent principal actors.
The writing of the show needs to be up to the talent. This weeks show is saved by the actors and their great performances. The writing worked until the step-mother was targeted as the culprit. That was lame. When you have great talent- they deserve the best in writing.
Their plot was not up to the previous weeks, give the actors a break and don’t rely on silly material.

I can understand why the ratings dropped: episode two was awful and extremely predictable. Episode three was an improvement, but that’s setting a very low bar.
I can’t see this lasting more than a season.
KEEP IT!!!!!! This show is excellent! Maybe TNT should advertise it a little more or something, because this show is well worth keeping. Both characters are perfect I love both of them. Trust me TNT canceling would be a bad idea. SO KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
