SPOILERS! The third season finale of FOX‘s Sleepy Hollow TV series, brought the death of main character, Lieutenant Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie. In March of 2015, FOX gave the show an early third season renewal, which was not repeated this year. So Sleepy Hollow is cancelled, right? Not necessarily, according to THR report, based on information from unnamed network sources.
In Sleepy Hollow‘s season three finale episode, “Ragnarok,” Abbie died a hero, sacrificing both life and soul in an effort to defeat Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon). Unlike he had, earlier in season three, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) was unable to save her, and according to Pandora, there is no bringing Abbie back. Offscreen chatter indicates Beharie had been wanting to leave the series for a while.

According The Hollywood Reporter, sources say both that FOX is likely to renew Sleepy Hollow for a fourth season, and that there has been “no talk” of making season four Sleepy Hollow‘s last. The report cites notes that the end of American Idol has left a big hole in the network’s schedule.

In a joint statement, published by THR, producers 20th Century FOX and showrunner Clifton Campbell said:
“The [season] finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales,” producers 20th Century Fox Television and showrunner Clifton Campbell said in a joint statement to THR. “We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we’ve seen onscreen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore.”

I love how every show takes historical facts (Or close to the same) and wraps the story around these facts. My wife and I LOVE the show AND Abbie, as well as the other players. The show will NOT be the same without Abbie.

I love this show! I was sad to see Abbie die and really loved her relationship with Crane! I would rather see this then an ending that is contrived and predictable. Lease Renew this show! Its is going to leave a large hole that will not be replaced easily!
Was intrigued by the series premiere trailer, so I watched the first episode and was hooked. Brilliant concept, witty, smart, exciting, mind-blowing twists and turns, and unpredictable. Then there’s the interweaving of history with the fresh storyline to create a new mythology. Wow! Looking forward to Season 4 of ichabod Crane’s Sleepy Hollow adventure!
Please do not cancel Sleepy Hollow! Love this show have watched all three seasons and will continue to watch.. it’s my favorite show.
Sleepy Hollow was not renewed for season 3 in March of 2015, It was renwed in the first week of May last year. While Abbie’s death is sad, what options did the show have since Nicole Beharie wanted off the series near the end of the 1st season. That may be why so much focus was put on Ichabod, Katrina and Henry/Jeremy for season 2. Cali, might I ask as a former avid and loyal viewer of this show, how we can KNOW for sure the info these folks are circulating about Beharie is true? I ask because when I saw her appearance at last year’s Comic Con, she looked like she wanted to cry and was holding back the tears, Mison even made a comment about her “not yet being there” and seemed a little bit shocked. I have no personal knowledge, of course, and I’m sorry to hear about that event at Comic Con. However, I recall reading during season ONE that Beharie was behaving strangely behind the scenes. I have no doubt that Hollywood is as racist and sexist as ever, and it may have been more than she could handle to deal with those pressures on a breakout hit show. I suspect we’ll never know the truth, but if Beharie was unhappy, it’s best that she’s no longer engaged with the project. I have watched SH since the beginning & Abbie was an integral part of show. I understand storylines must change, but killing off a main character changes everything. I’m not sure if I want it renewed without no Abbie. But if it does renew, I may watch as season finale did end with an interesting perhaps new storyline.
While so very sorry to see Abby go this is why I love this show it breaks the rules. I am excited for the next season!!!
Nicole was to much of an essential part of show the chemistry of the lieutenant and crane was what I looked forward to I doubt very much it can be replaced
Sleepy Hollow is only one of three shows that I religiously watch! I adore the talented Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane. Although Abbie Mills is a wonderful character, I will continue to be a loyal fan and watch this awesome show!!! Sleepy hollow is one of my favorite tv shows. I enjoy the period setting and characters along with the stories. Even though I loved Abbie’s character and I am sad she is gone but I will continue to watch. Great show
I blame that whole Katrina storyline for ******** up the momentum and growth of the show. It’s no wonder Nicole wanted to leave. She wanted out of her contract back in season 2. If this show continues let’s hope it will be good enough to want her to come back!

I LOVE this show! I started watching it because I love the Washington Irving Sleepy Hollow. I liked it right from the start! Tom Mison is wonderful! The show wouldn’t be the show without him.
Yes please renew Sleepy Hollow, although it won’t be the same without Abby, but I still love the show and Crane!
