Spinning Out is taking a spill on the ice after just one season. Netflix has decided not to renew the figure skating drama for a second season. The series hit the streaming service on January 1. The streaming service also handed a one and done cancellation to Soundtrack as well.
Deadline shared the following about Spinning Out on Netflix:
“Created by former competitive figure skater Samantha Stratton, Spinning Out starred Kaya Scodelario as Kat Baker, a high-level figure skater who is about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall takes her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pairs skater with a talented bad-boy partner, Justin Davis (Evan Roderick), she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. She splits her time between the ice rink, working as a waitress and living with her family in the nearby working-class town of Hawkley, Idaho. Kat’s mother (January Jones) is a former figure skater who has raised Kat, and younger sister, Serena (Willow Shields), on her own. Fueled by a desire to prove that she can cut it as a pairs skater, Kat keeps her eye on the prize – facing daunting odds to realize her Olympic dream.”
While Netflix does not release ratings for its programming, the series scored a 9.64 in our on-site viewer voting.
What do you think? Did you watch Spinning Out? Would you have watched season two?
Yes I watched it and enjoyed it. I was looking forward to a 2nd season.
I watched 3 episodes. It didn’t hold my attention. Too all over the place…
So, no. I wouldn’t have watched a second season.
The show was incredibly well casted, acted and topped off with an amazing soundtrack. The delivery was raw and felt realistic. Thought a second season was a dead cert, what a shame. Thanks for introducing me to some amazing new music, and for getting out there the difficulties of living with a mental health illness.
Very disappointed that there will not be a Season 2. I watched season 1 in 2 days and I never do that. I really enjoyed the scating as well as the personal dynamics. More of a true to life story then a lot of shows that are on. Too bad is cancelled.
I loved spinning out and I’m desperate for season 2 ASAP!!
show was amazing! Watched the whole season in 1 night! I need a season 2
What Deadline wrote about SpinningOut would cause me not to watch it. I hate figure skating, my focus was on the family dynamics of a mother and her daughter both having to manage their own bipolar disorders. That was my focus. I am extremely disappointed that Netflix canceled Spinning Out. It’s not the first time Netflix has canceled a show I like. Other then “Ratched”, which I know is guaranteed several seasons thanks to Ryan Murphy, I will no longer invest MY time in Netflix-produced series. I am strongly considering canceling my [5] subscriptsion. You suck Netflix!
I need spinning out to come back! Excellent show. I loved it, and all the cast.
Show was trash.
Please bring back a another season! This show was excellent
Disappointed the show was cancelled. Honestly feel this was due to it not being advertised as well as it could have been.
Disappointed the show was cancelled
We enjoyed the show & were looking forward too resolution of the story lines thinking it was intended to be a 2 season series. With all the streaming services there are too many shows to keep track of or up with.
Loved the show !!! Extremely mad that they are not making season 2 !!! 🙁 I binge watched season 1 so quick !
I watched the whole season in two days! So good.
I didn’t realize there was a show about figure skating. Netflix has too many shows and it’s hard to keep up.
