Episode 01-01 & 02: Monday, 9/26/11
The two hour premiere attracted a 3.1 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 9.22 million. It was in third place for the timeslots and surely a disappointment for FOX considering the production expenses and promotion.
On the positive side, the two hours showed very good retention which means that most people who tuned in kept watching until the end. That’s a positive indicator for next week.
When you compare this with last season’s 8pm premiere of House, the network was down by 24% in the demo. On the positive side, Terra Nova improved over last year’s quickly-cancelled Lone Star premiere by 238%.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Terra Nova TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

My husband and I look forward to the show every week!! We would love it to continue. Great story lines, good actors, and good action!!
LOVE THIS SHOW! The characters although numerous have depth and the story is great and meaningful and the special effects are amazing. We wanted a show to replace Smallville and this is it! Wonderful, our family is hoping Terranova continues for a good many seasons.
I have to agree with everyone above except of course Ross. Not that it may not be for children however the canceling of this show would be a shame for those of us who really enjoy it! My husband and I never miss Terra Nova we also wish it was 2 hours long! We can’t wait to see the next episode and the next season hopefully many more!
WE WANT MORE….
My husband and I love Terra Nova. I can totally see Brannon Braga’s and Rene Echevarria’s imprint. There’s actually character development! So rare these days. It’s a little cheesy but it interests us both for different reasons and I REALLY hope it is brought back for a second season.
This is a great show that my family and friends never miss. Very refreshing in these times of crappy tv. Would be a shame to cancel this show. Terra Nova rocks the house.
Terra Nova has to have a second, maybe longer, season. It is a twist on ‘humanity’ programming. Also, it is not a reality show; there are so many of them around that I almost want to burn my television set. I am an American living in Australia so I do not know what the timeslot is in the United States but here it is Sunday night at 10:00. Come on! How can a new show like this reach wide audiences at that time? They did the same thing to Star Trek (original). Hopefully they will learn from that mistake. The… Read more »
Hope this show is on for many years.
FOX SHOULD CANCEL THIS EXPENSIVE SHOW! IT NOT MEANT FOR KIDS AND TEENS!
Just because kids can’t watch you want it cancelled. Let’s cancelle some shows you watch that aren’t for kids. Don’t let the kids watch problem solved.
I am not generally a huge fan of sci-fi; I mainly watched the premiere because of Stephen Lang and my interest in Civil War (Mr. Lang has portrayed Stonewall Jackson and George Pickett), but I quickly became hooked! PLEASE RENEW THE SERIES!
I watch every week, but around here it airs at 8pm, Mon. GREAT SHOW!!
I agree with Darris; wish it was 2 hours long. That hour goes by so fast and am longing for more. I can hardly wait until the next week to watch it again. P
We totally love this show! My wife and I never miss an episode. We always look forward to the next weeks episode, not to mention the 2nd. season of Terra Nova! Matter of fact I wish each episode was 2 hours long. One hour seems to by sooo fast..
Thanks
My husband and I never miss an episode, we love Terra Nova! We are anxious for season two.
I will be so bummed if cancelled and I won’t watch another new show!! I am so tired of science fiction only getting one chance at an audience. Does anyone remember Joss Whedon and Firefly! What a mistake
I love this show, it has a great story. It DOESN’T have bad acting. Also it’s not all about dinosaurs (which I don’t mind) and it has great potential. I got my family into it. I think it should be renewed for at least 3 seasons, I would love it to be on longer though.
