For the past few years, The Blacklist has been airing on Friday nights, an evening that was once considered a death sentence for TV shows. But this NBC series has continued to be renewed year after year anyway. Still, all good things must end someday. Will this season be the final curtain for Reddington? Will The Blacklist be cancelled or renewed for season nine? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
The Blacklist stars James Spader, Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Amir Arison, Hisham Tawfiq, Laura Sohn, and Harry Lennix. The crime drama centers on one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (Spader), who offers to help the authorities if a specific rookie agent, Elizabeth Keen (Boone), partners with him. In season eight, with his back against the wall, Red faces his most formidable enemy yet — Elizabeth. Aligned with her mother, infamous Russian spy Katarina Rostova, Liz must decide how far she is willing to go to find out why Reddington has entered her life and what his endgame really is. The fallout between Red and Keen will have devastating consequences for all that lie in their wake, including the Task Force they helped to create.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
6/17 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: Season seven of The Blacklist on NBC averaged a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.27 million viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the The Blacklist TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season?
*1/26/21 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist TV series for a ninth season.
Storyline needs to get corrected!!! Get rid of the supervillain Keene!!! In order to get rid of her character her mothers murder needs to B another one of reds setup and reunite her and her mom and get them out of the show period!!!! This show is much better than the ratings show!!! Once again storyline needs to get Keene out and concentrate on red and dembe!!!!
It’s a good show. Raymond and Dembe are both making us addicted to the show. Show must go on.
Will not continue to watch if you don’t take Keenes character off and get back to like it was at start
It won’t stop me from watching. I watched when she was on before, but yes, I’ve truly enjoyed these episodes without her.
She’s definitely the weakest link in the show.
great show /only show that keep you coming back for more watch all old ones on demand over
I used to love the Blacklist….until they killed off Tom, decided it was a good idea to make Elizabeth(terrible acting) the center of the series, and had the agents run around like idiots. James Spader’s dialogue and his scenes with Dembe are the only reasons to tune in. Unbelievable that it continues to get renewed!
Agreed. If it wasn’t for Spader, I probably would’ve never started watching this to start with. He’s great as Reddington. I feel this should’ve been the last season as it’s getting in jump the shark territory at this point.
The new episodes are earning the lower ratings. The storyline has taken a terrible turn, and the formula of a Blacklister helping the FBI has been discarded. The Red character was the draw, not Elizabeth Keen. Making her some super criminal that can all of a sudden outsmart Red, and the FBI and never even be spotted, is ridiculous.
So far I do not like season 8! I feel like it does not make any sense, I mean, for example, Elizabeth goes to Ressler apartments after she nearly killed him in a bomb attempt on Raymond Reddington, and end up sleeping with him!? It’s just too many incidents so far in season 8 which does not make any sense.
Please boost ratings so good need more ratings people really good too.
Please continue with many more seasons. My friends and I love the show especially James Spader as Reddington. He’s a marvellous actor. I hope he gets a well-deserved Emmy for it. The ratings would probably improve if the show can be moved to a better slot instead of Friday nights.
I can’t wait to watch so good love James Spader is the best need boost ratings more people.
I record the season and it is one of the few shows I watch anymore. I can’t get enough of it.
One of best crime shows seen in years keep ratings up worth waiting watching love it.
This is the best show ever! I hope it continues!
Such a great show need ratings up so good every seasomg.
My favorite TV show. Hope it continues for years to come.
James Spader so good.
