CBS isn’t sticking with The Red Line. Deadline reports the network has cancelled the TV show after only one season. At the ATX TV Festival, executive producer Sunil Nayar confirmed that there wouldn’t be a second season of the limited series.
The drama centers on three separate Chicago families forever changed by the shooting of an unarmed African American doctor, by a white police officer. The cast includes Noah Wyle, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Noel Fisher, Howard Charles, Aliyah Royale, Michael Patrick Thornton, Vinny Chhibber, Corey Reynolds, and Elizabeth Laidlaw.
Since The Red Line‘s debut in April, ratings steadily decreased. The eight episodes of season one averaged a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.85 million viewers, making it one of CBS‘ lowest-rated series for the 2018-2019 season.
What do you think? Have you seen The Red Line? Would you have watched a second season?
I am crushed. This was such a relevant show that attempts to projects all angles of life-altering events.
I loved The Red Line. It touched on so many things going on in this country. I loved that it showed all sides of the story. I hate that it has been canceled.
This is why people have stopped watching network tv. I don’t know who they’re polling because this show cover so many 21rst century topics. Shame on them. I’ll go back to cable.
Our family was looking forward to the next season, watched every episode.
I would love to see The Red Line Resume. Who do i contact?
Unbelievable that this stellar show has been canceled. Every aspect of the show was superb; casting, acting, storyline, etc. I suppose it will be replaced by some silly comedy or reality TV. What a shame.
That is a big mistake It was one of the best shows that have been worth watching in a very long time What fool at CBS could not recognize thisI can think of a number of shows they should have cancelled instead Please rethink your decision to cancel The Red Line
wow, what a shame. I would have loved to have seen the second season of this. maybe in the future CBS will rethink this?
Please renew for a second season…please. this is an awesome show with an awesome story
This really sucks because I was really liking The Red Line. I’m so disappointed that their cancelling it. These networks don’t even give it a chance. What is it that people want to see today? I really was hoping for a second season. I love Noel Fisher and Noah Wyle, two great actors. Now they’re cancelling a show that didn’t even get a chance. Shame on you CBS.
One of the best shows on TV. I think the reason for the low ratings is because it’s about things that really happen and people don’t want to admit that. I agree with other people who replied – shame on everyone – especially CBS for not seeing The Red Lines potential.

Excellent show in RedLine with unlimited potential in story lines. The problem is CBS in not developing a winning show by wanting to cancel. Shame on everyone to Not Promote the show by doing Season 2… Renew the Red Line series
I completely agree, I found The Red Line by accident and have never felt so great about a program with so many relevant social issues in current life. I was completely engrossed with the story line and felt it to be so real. I was blown away by the acting of all the cast members in making me actually feel what they were feeling. The injustice that occurs in life and how people try to live their lives in spite of them. This was a powerful show and it so deserved to be told. Shame on CBS for not realizing… Read more »
I loved the show. Every time I love the show it always gets canceled. Maybe sometimes a second season would bring it into light and more viewers. This makes me extremely sad
It was a great little show that had a specific story line that it covered well, so at least it did have closure.
ALL shows should have a closure episode if they are in danger of being cancelled.
Disappointed that it’s over. The fact that it was so controversial hitting on one of today’s current issues is what made it interesting. Noah Wyle playing a gay man was completely unexpected but I think he did it very well.
I loves the show! Cancelling this show and renewing some of the others makes no sense to me. Nah Kylie really took a big bite of his character and he acted the heck out if his part. All the supporting cast were great too. But…Mr Kylie impressed me the most. Shame on CBS for no second season
