A comedy-drama, The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson, and Eric Winter. The story centers on John Nolan (Fillion), a small-town guy who, after a life-changing experience, decides to pursue his dream of being an LAPD officer. Now he’s the oldest rookie on the force, and the brass thinks he’s just having a midlife crisis. He’s got to keep up with his younger co-workers (not to mention young criminals) or he’ll risk lives. Maybe though, he can use the experience he’s gained with age, and the determination he has developed over the years, to make a real go of it. Either way, he’s got a secret weapon — his sense of humor.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of The Rookie averaged a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.17 million viewers.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Rookie is in 14th place in the demo and ninth place in total viewership.

We love Nathan Fillion since Castle. We hope this show will continue on. He’s such a great actor and person. We need a good show.

I love the Rookie and I also loved Castle. I’m so glad it’s being renewed. I just wish it came on a little earlier.
Our household really enjoyed Nathan Fillion’s latest series. It’s great to see an opportunity for older, normal people to start a new career when so many of us are going through the same thing. A new start is great to promote. Hope you keep it going.

I loved “The Rookie” and am so happy to hear it’s coming back. The humour is witty and intelligent and Nathan Fillion is just so darn likeable. It’s also nice to shine a light in the premise that age can provide a lot to any job as life experience is not something you can learn over night. The cast is also a pleasure to watch. Great Show!
Yes! I am so glad it had been renewed. I binged watched the entire season in 3 days. I don’t often get to watch tv in the evening so I watch it online or on demand. It was slow getting started but each episode was better and better. Little to watch on tv these days and I so happy it’s coming back. Love the characters and story line. Stay true to that please!
