What’s this TV show about?
Airing on the NBC television network, Chicago Med follows the doctors, nurses, and staff of the state of the art Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. As the ER’s newest attending, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) supervises pediatrics resident Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto), his longtime crush. Also serving under Halstead are cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell), psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), intern Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo), and former Navy flight surgeon Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee). Chicago Med Chief of Services, Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) manages the pressure of running the city’s largest hospital while ensuring the facility provides compassionate, quality care. The cast also includes Yaya DaCosta and Marlyne Barrett.
Season Two Ratings
Season two of Chicago Med is averaging a 1.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.81 million total viewers. Compared to season one, that is a decrease of 23% in the demo and a decline of 14%, in terms of total audience size. Find out how Chicago Med stacks up against the other NBC scripted series.
While Chicago Med‘s second season ratings have dropped, that was somewhat expected. In its freshman year, the medical drama’s lead-in was NBC’s most popular series, The Voice. In contrast, season two of Chicago Med follows the lower rated comedies Superstore and The Good Place. As Chicago Fire‘s second spinoff (which also spun off Chicago PD), Chicago Med is part of Dick Wolf’s Chicago TV show franchise, which will soon also include the new Chicago Justice TV series. Because the second season ratings have been relatively stable, I expect NBC will renew Chicago Med for season three. What do you think? Do you watch Chicago Med on NBC?
