That’s a wrap on Project Greenlight. Variety reports HBO has cancelled the series after four seasons.
From Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, the docu-series gave first-time filmmakers the opportunity to make a feature film with a professional cast and crew.
This is not the first time HBO has passed on Project Greenlight. After two seasons on the network, the show moved to Bravo in 2005 before being revived in 2015 for a fourth season on HBO. In a statement, HBO said they only planned for a one-season revival:
When we picked up a new season in 2014, we imagined a one season revival and decided in early 2016 another season did not make sense for us. We are proud of the show and were pleased with its run throughout the years.”
Damon’s not giving up on the series, however. He told the Associated Press he’ll shop Project Greenlight around to other networks:
I’m not one to question [their programming]. They do such a great job. But we have to take it out again.”
What do you think? Have you seen Project Greenlight? Are you sad the show is ending?
