As expected A Gifted Man was cancelled by CBS over the weekend. It was no surprise to the show’s star, Patrick Wilson. Via Twitter, he noted that he’d been expecting the cancellation for about two months.
Wilson wasn’t crazy however about the way that he was informed about the show being cancelled. Wilson noted, “So…shocking to no one: #agiftedman is done.Found out via email…and not from the network.Stay classy. Thanks to AGM fans! Great cast/crew!” (He later acknowledged that the “Stay classy” part was indeed a nod to Anchorman.)
A very busy and versatile performer, it doesn’t sound like Wilson is as upset about the cancellation as some of the show’s fans.
He followed up with, “Thanks for the AGM love…but now that it’s “official,”I couldn’t be happier. As good as it was(sometimes) it was not what I signed on for.”
Wilson tweeted on Sunday, “At St. Patrick’s cathedral…. Breathtaking…. Puts a lot in perspective. Go dag. :)”
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that A Gifted Man won’t be back? Would you like to see Wilson in a new TV series someday? What kind? Perhaps on a show that would showcase his singing?

What is wrong with you people Micheal Holt is wonderful bring him back the last episode left us stranded what is going to happen to Micheal and Anna!!!!
A Gifted Man was the best show on your channel and you got rid of it to play garbage. All your fall line up is horrible compared to this show. I’m really disapointed.
As I stated similarly on a different ‘cancelled series site/ comments??’ months ago…. Unusually I was very affected by the cancellation of this show. Each one kept me connected and for primarily brain afflictions – it was a very smart show & always had more – medically…..which I think is hard to do w/ 100+ out there. Placing in the free clinic helped add more medicine but also added a great staff. Patrick – Rhys – lady from Dexter ….could have come or gone w/ the ghost of ex-wife but if it was going to add more to the story… Read more »
We loved the gifted man—no police show for a change. How could CBS cancel this show that had some brain power and keep “Two and One-half Men” that is about two weak, sick men that are sex and drug crazed and a now teen age boy who is following suit–the kind of teenager that is every decent parent”s nightmare. No wonder TV is rarely on at our house!!!!!
I don’t know what people are talking about when they say good riddance! This was a quality show. Cheesy, yes. But quality nonetheless.
Absolutely loved this show and could not wait for it to come on each week; so of course the tv station cancels it. Fans liked it but you didn’t; ohhhhhhhhh that makes sense. NOT!!!!!! Disappointed in you CBS
!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry the show was cancelled. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. Especially the “gifted man” , A great actor. I loved the fact that it was about his hospital and the clinic. Made room for a lot more story lines. Good luck to all the actors.
Sorry the show got dumped. One of the top 5 shows of the year. Some people may have taken Wilson’s character too serious. Too full of him self. Just great acting. He can do it all. Movies, TV. Broadway, drummer. great singer, etc. SAD!!
Some people might have been turned off by his charactor. Too much of himself. But that is great acting. I couldn’t get enough of the series. I would pay to see it. I swear. P Wilson can do it all. I repeat HE CAN DO IT ALL. Sing , act, dance . Broadway , movies , TV. Check him out singing country with McBride on YouTube. Live in a bar.
My husband and I truly enjoyed watching A Gifted Man. He will be very disappointed. There are very few shows we enjoy anymore. The other one we really liked was Unforgettable. You are so right about the only reason to watch CBS on Friday night was AGM. So many shows are just lame. How many reality shows can someone stand. I really don’t care to see how stupid people can be.
CBS might be losing their edge of the market by cancellation of A Gifted Man.
This is the kinda show baby boomers find interesting. And guess what there are a lot of baby boomers that have retired and who will be retiring and will need to watch their budgets much closer. Economy is bad, no jobs, more retirees, = more people who can not afford cable, direct tv, or sattilite.
Don’t mess with a potentially good show that could just be getting off the ground.
Finally, a show that is not about cops and has a great appeal to baby boomer women and it hits the trash can. I do not believe the show had a long enough run. It was just starting to get interesting. I was making plans around the show which, I have never done in my life.
I really wished CBS would reconsider. The main cast was fantastic.
This was a great show! I don’t understand why it got low ratings! I was hooked! I am so sad that it won’t be on the air anymore
Gifted Man . . . One of CBS bad moves. This show has a loyal following, which should be what counts. Having a show that has so much broad appeal that it is in the top of the ratings is impossible for “every” show to have. CBS you disappoint me with your lack of commitment to your programming. No wonder I turn USA on more and more. I can count on the programs I like there having a good run.
Gifted Man…only reason to watch CBS on Friday night. Another dumb move.
