Eileen’s pursuit of the truth won’t continue into the 2023-24 network season. ABC has cancelled Alaska Daily, so there won’t be a second season.
A drama series, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. Eileen is on a journey to find personal and professional redemption in a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was one of ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and a middle-of-the-road performer in total viewers, when compared to other shows on the network.
The show nearly doubled its viewership in the live+7 day ratings, but that was apparently not good enough to secure a second-season renewal.
The first season of 11 episodes finished airing on March 30th.

This was a great intellectual show. ABC did a huge disservice by having the HUGE mid-season hiatus. I am sorry Alaska Daily is cancelled yet silly sit-coms continue.
This is too bad. The show’s content was both relevant and relatable. I guess there aren’t enough vampires or aliens in it.
I really enjoyed the show. It’s irritating that the network isn’t renewing it.
I enjoy the series and will miss a season 2 especially the way it teaches about the indigenous people of Alaska and their mistreatment, especially the women…

They always cancel the good shows and why, well in this case I think it was all politics and the big wigs in Alaska did not want the lower states see how things were done…I for one and cancelling ABC and then they killed Big Sky what a bunch of dummies work there.
So disappointing! A truly great cast and great storyline. It seems that shows that are not realty based or silly sitcoms are always cancelled. Wish ABC would reconsider. Maybe Netflix…
Was such a good show. A show with real values. What a disappointment. It was a show I encouraged my friends and family to watch. It had substance and dealt with a problem that I didn’t know about. I was hoping to learn more about Alaska

Totally looked forward to watching Alaska Daily every week… kept you on the edge of yr seat alot… why on earth would u even consider cancelling………geezzzzzzz so tired of fighting for good shows!!!!!!!!! 🙁
WHY!!! It was a compelling show about missing indigenous women. It was ground breaking television. When they take too many breaks during shows they lose audiences. Kiss of death. Bring it back
Well as per usual, cancel a show with a different story line. Whose there demographic?? Their counting. Not mine.
We loved Alaska Daily and are very disappointed in its cancellation. It was good TV!
So disappointing !! An opportunity to view great drama with superb acting. Hilary Swank brings such light, unusual in television. No doubt ABC will replace with the usual drivel (which I won’t watch!) Why can’t these good programs be allowed their chance to build their unique rhythm and style?
