Eileen’s pursuit of the truth won’t continue into the 2023-24 network season. ABC has cancelled Alaska Daily, so there won’t be a second season.
A drama series, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. Eileen is on a journey to find personal and professional redemption in a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was one of ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and a middle-of-the-road performer in total viewers, when compared to other shows on the network.
The show nearly doubled its viewership in the live+7 day ratings, but that was apparently not good enough to secure a second-season renewal.
The first season of 11 episodes finished airing on March 30th.

This show was so well done. Great acting and storyline was so interesting. The trailers were misleading and that’s why I didn’t watch it when it was released. My friend told me it was worth the watch. It sure was. There is more to find out about Alaska Daily. You must reconsider bringing it back.
I thought this show was most excellent. The story was great and the acting
as well. It covered topics that most of us were unaware of and it was a story that needed to be told. It just goes to show that if a show is really good, the network will cancel it. Shame on you ABC. you get rid of the good shows and keep the crappy ones
I am very disappointed that Alaska Daily was cancelled. It and Big Sky are the only reasons I had been watching ABC other than the nightly national news. Hilary Swank is a wonderful actress b sorry that she didn’t get another season. She deserved it

ABC is making terrible decisions this season. Cancelling Alaska Daily, Big Sky & The Company You Keep. Especially Alaska Daily- it sends a strong message that needs to be heard. They’ll probably replace them with more horrible reality shows. I give ABC a

I’m a print journalist so I was excited about this show. I liked the first few episodes but grew tired of it. It just wasn’t interesting enough to keep me coming back.

ABC afriad to show bothreal journalism and real Native American issues. Their decision borders on racial bias. A solid high quality drama.
We liked the show a LOT. Solid characters, good acting — we really thought it would be renewed. You put it against the Law & Order Trilogy on Thursday nights! Perhaps if you gave this quality show a chance on another night, the ratings would be better. Very disappointed…
Of course… another program with relevance… pulled. True, it was a touch PC however, a story that needed told and done so well it really wasn’t apparent. Not only that, I felt this program along with “Will Trent” are/were both a modern “Have Gun Will Travel”. That is, an adult themed program for adults … and young adults could learn something also! Truly enjoyable.

Alaska Daily. It was such a good show…. my favorite. Great acting and story line particularly as it related to Native Americans. Such a shame.
