This court won’t be back in session during the 2021-22 television season. CBS has cancelled the All Rise legal drama series so we won’t be seeing a third season.
All Rise stars Simone Missick, Wilson Bethel, Marg Helgenberger, Jessica Camacho, J. Alex Brinson, Lindsay Mendez, Ruthie Ann Miles, Lindsay Gort, and Audrey Corsa. The series follows the chaotic, hopeful (and sometimes absurd) world of those who work at a courthouse in Los Angeles. At the center of this drama series is Lola Carmichael (Missick), a recently appointed judge who was previously a highly regarded and impressive deputy district attorney. She depends on the counsel of people like her Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan (Bethel), Supervisory Judge Lisa Benner (Helgenberger), and pragmatic judicial assistant Sherri Kansky (Miles). Lola pushes the boundaries and challenges the expectations of what a judge can be and receives both support and pushback from those around her.
Airing on Monday nights, the second season of All Rise averages a 0.45 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.01 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 27% in the demo and down by 26% in viewership. It’s one of the lower-rated scripted shows on CBS.
The cancellation follows a number of behind-the-scenes issues — including the departure of creator/showrunner Greg Spottiswood following misconduct allegations.
The de facto series finale will air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you make a point to watch the All Rise TV series each week? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled? Would you have tuned in for season three on CBS?
All Rise was a wonderful experience with diverse, strong, positive role models male and female. A brilliant look at the judicial system Looked forward to season 3 . Very disappointed that CBS is so short sighted.
Would have definitely continue watching. Binging Season 1
Please do not cancel All Rise. It is a very positive show. And please no more realty of dreadful housewives shows- there are no role models in these disasters
Sad to see that All Rise was canceled. Wonder why? Let’s see,
1) strong female dominant cast
2) smart and racially-diverse cast
3) weekly demonstration of the racial and financial inequity in our judicial system
4) multi-dimensional characters (plus they were female and [mostly] non-white complex characters!)
5) LGBTQ characters whose orientation wasn’t the ‘main part’ of their persona, for each one, it was more a case of, “Oh, she’s attracted to women, who knew?”
I don’t understand why they have to cancel this show seeing that its one of the only shows out there that has a realistic views and us black people could relate too. It was nice to see someone of my skin color in a powerful seat. It gave me hope for my kids, it was a very motivated show and I never miss episode. They need to bring it back
I enjoyed the show. Very sad it’s ending. The characters were great and it shows how people can get along on the job. Wish it would come back again! It is a better show than LA Law and others who have tried it, plus I loved the up to date storylines
Bad move to cancel.
I am really disappointed! There is a lot of junk on CBS. Why would they choose to cancel this show with its relevant themes and appealing characters?
One of my favorite shows I never missed an episode. Very relevant for today’s issues. Added a human touch to policing/judicial issues. Praying another network will take on the project.
This was one of the best shows on television. Gallup homes or whatever give the ratings are not truly reflective of the mixture of viewers. This program had very relevant issues –legally, procedurally and personally for the audience to digest. Perhaps another network (or cable) will pick up the show.
I don’t know why CBS is canceling All Arise and other great shows. Seems like CBS is doing only reality shows, which I do not like.
That was one of my favorite shows CBS always cancels my favorite what I’m the world why bring that stupid evil back that’s a horrible show seriously!!
I’m mad you guys are a joke!!
Was my favorite show. Of course cbs cancels the show I look forward to seeing
Looked forward to watching All Rise. My husband and I enjoyed it together. Boo to cancellation!
It’s astonishing how many shows were canceled or ended this season! No doubt we’ll see them replaced by a slew of “reality” based shows pandering to the lowest common denominator or another NCIS spin off or maybe there’s a law enforcement agency that doesn’t have a show yet-the ATF or the Secret Service (yawn).
This is the most an absolute outrage I as a viewer have with CBS decision to cancel All Rise. I read where a comment was made that Cable television wins in Awards for best programming, and I agree. With all the junk on network television, a solid entry such as All Rise should have been renewed for season three. This is why I will not be watching anything CBS will have on their list of programs next season.
Ditto on what the other fans are saying. I get invested in a show and then it’s cancelled. I’m over 40 so my opinion doesn’t matter. I’m sorry to see it go but no matter what we say matters not to CBS! I’ve cancelled the app..
