TV show description:
Hosted by designer Nate Berkus, this reality competition pits contestants — experienced designers and home builders — against one another as they come up with creative home transformations.
In each episode, two teams take on a brand new project and are asked to redesign and renovate the space from the inside out in a matter of days. From Spanish to Tudor to mid-century modern, the designers are expected to produce sweeping home renovations that bring a fresh, modern sensibility — while remaining true to the home’s innate charm and design characteristics.
The outcomes are judged by Berkus as well as Eddie George, a former NFL all-pro who’s now a renowned landscape architect, and interior design expert Monica Pedersen.
The judges review the finished work and determine which team achieved the best results. After facing the panel of judges, the losing team must send one member home. In the final episode of the season, the remaining two designers take on renovations for two impressive Southern California homes and bring their unique visions to life.
Episode #10 — Beach Home
After nine weeks and 19 renovations, the final two designers — Lukas Machnik and Jay Riordan (both from Chicago) — meet their final challenge. In their biggest renovation to date, they must transform two dream beach homes in Ventura, California. They are reunited with a few surprise guests to help them. In the end, Machnik wins the grand prize of $250,000 and is crowned as the first (and only) American Dream Builder.
First aired: May 25, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the American Dream Builders TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Yes! Another season please! I really this show and there are not many shows on NBC that I enjoy, please keep American Dream Builders!
I also hope it returns. I know that remodeling houses is not everyone’s cup of tea but then neither are fairy tales or vampire love stories but those seem to do alright on TV.
I like Nate Berkus, looking forward to more designers and transformations. Next season please.
I hope the show isn’t cancelled, but would rather see a different host than Nate Burkus. There is a lot of talent out there and I think you could do better….also, I’m not a fan of his “grunge” look.
Since Mr. Berkus is the Executive Producer, it is not likely he will be replaced as the host. I agree on the grunge look. That is so 2010!
