It wasn’t a great start for the new series but Awake still outperformed the premieres of (essentially-cancelled) The Firm, and (cancelled) The Playboy Club, and Prime Suspect. If the show can stay at this level of ratings, it’s got a very good chance of being renewed for a second season. It’s amazing how poor a show’s ratings can be on NBC and still be one of the best rated shows on the network.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Awake TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
YOU ARE DISGUSTING NBC. This has better ratings than a lot of shows you are renewing. BOYCOTT NBC.
Our whole family loves this show! Isaacs is one of the most compelling network television actors I’ve seen in awhile. His acting makes this show exceptional. Please don’t cancel a quality show! Give it a second season!
Please!!!!! Don’t cancel this show!!!!!!!
This is total bullcrap! The show made you use your brain to determine which part was reality & which was fantasy………oh wait…..that’s where NBC loses it (using your brain). I really haven’t been a fan of anything NBC has done recently & this show almost brought me back but instead the execs had to nerf the pooch on quality entertainment. WTG NBC! NNNNOOOOTTTTTT!
[…] complex drama had an unimpressive debut back on March 1st, registering a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.24 million viewers. NBC […]
It seems the networks never give a great show a chance. Awake is a very unique show that makes the viewers think. Leave it to NBC to cancel this fantasy show and sign on another boring reality show. I hope SyFy will consider picking it up and running with it.
I think I am just about done with NBC. Awake and Community are the only shows I watch on this network. Since they cancelled Awake I really have no reason to come back. I am tired of the crappy shows they put out and to keep Whitney for another season is a slap in the face.
I really hope this sticks around. It’s well written and Isaacs is a compelling lead actor. But if NBC won’t keep it, then I hope they send it to SyFy and cancel one of the thousand or so “reality” ghost shows over there.
If they cancel this one, it just indicates how dumb the networks really are. Every year the better shows get canceled. “Wake-Up” NBC !!!
I love this show. I have a very hard time getting into shows, but this one I have watched every week religiously. So nice to actually have to think while watching a show!! Top quality unlike other shows on nowadays. 2nd season please!!
Totally agree. I’m very picky about the shows I watch and can get into and I love this show! I was completely shocked when I’d heard it was cancelled but then again, with NBC it doesn’t really surprise me. I hope this show pops up somewhere else, no matter what channel. It does seem appropriate for SyFy.
Love this show!!! Can’t wait until thursdays to watch it!!
I agree with Garrett Lee, above. I cannot wait until this show airs on Thurday evenings. I luuuuuve this show and the cast, especially Jason Isaacs. Even it was just the detective part of the show, it would be good. I am trying to tell people about the show but am always afraid the network will cancel it before it can build an audience. If it does, perhaps TNT will pick it up like they did Southland. That was a big mistake on NBC. Another show Prime Suspect, NBC, cancelled before it find its audience.
Awake is clever and I am anxious to find out what is gonna happen to this guy. More shows than I can count are so formulaic, this show makes you think. Which is this man’s true reality? I love it, and I know if this show were on another network people would watch it. I really believe the public still hates NBC for dumping all their prime time shows and fired Conan for the douche bag Jay Leno. Decent writing, (sometimes it’s a bit cliche’) and a great cast make this show worth saving. But again, money motivates the networks,… Read more »
Yes please!! I have really enjoyed this show and hope to see a 2nd season.
Please keep this show …it is entertaining and well written…the cast is superb..it is a cut above other shows!
