This news sounds more like a curse than a blessing. ABC has revealed that they’ve cancelled Bless This Mess so, it won’t be back for the 2020-21 season.
The Bless This Mess comedy series follows young newlyweds Mike and Rio Levine-Young (Dax Shepard and Lake Bell) who give up their lives in New York City to run a farm in Nebraska that Mike’s great-aunt left to him. The cast also includes Ed Begley Jr., Pam Grier, JT Neal, David Koechner, and Madison Curry.
The second season of Bless This Mess averaged a 0.67 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.64 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s even in the demo and up by 9% in overall viewers.
Despite Bless This Mess being one of ABC‘s few TV shows to actually gain viewers in its sophomore season, the network has still decided not to order a third season. Compared to the network’s other scripted series, Bless This Mess was a middle-of-the-road performer.
Both Single Parents and Bless This Mess are produced by 20th Century Fox Television (now owned by ABC parent company, Disney) and executive produced by Liz Meriwether (New Girl). Neither series was picked up for 2020-21 by ABC.
What do you think? Do you watch Bless This Mess TV series? Would you have watched season three on ABC?
Are you kidding me?! My husband and I can’t wait to see it each week! It is well-written, funny, and has a cast that compliments each other. In these horrible Covid-19 days, we need this to keep our sanity!
Please bring back Bless This Mess ….one of my husbands and my Favorites!! It got better every season as we got to know the quirky characters!! I am really disappointed!!!
Hard to believe that ABC canceled a show with such a creative cast with super fun chemistry. It was one of the only shows left on ABC I actually liked. Who cares about the same medical dramas, crime stories, police dramas. Grey’s Anatomy has been on for how long? Station 19? What even is that? They are all the same series, just in a different venue. I looked forward to laughing every Tuesday night at 8:30Pm with this show. At this point probably going to drop ABC altogether. Bye…………
Kept waiting & waiting for Emergence to get it’s second season green light and wham!
ABC cancels it and goes and axes the only comedy I think was worth watching “Bless this Mess” in the same day. Funny & inspired writing with a very likeable cast. This show was on a up swing? What are you doing? Agree with others here, sick of hospital & cops shows. Oh and totally done with reality shows & ABC Off to Netflix- Prime Don’t want to support a BS (broadcast station) that is clueless to quality.
Looks like ABC made a really bad decision by cancelling Bless This Mess. You guys keep trashy shows like the bachelor and bachelorette but you pull well written shows like bless this mess?! What is wrong with you people. Huge mistake!!!
I was disappointed the show was cancelled. Given that the Conners lost 1/3 of their 18-49 audience and about 20% of their overall audience and Bless This Mess lost .07% of 18-49 and actually gained in overall viewers, most networks would be happy. Someone at ABC must really dislike this show or the people involved since the cancellation doesn’t make sense ratings-wise.
Lets hope that maybe another network will pick up Bless This Mess. It’s a shame to keep crappy shows and throw away shows like this one – Keep our fingers crossed that another network will pick it up!!!!!!
Well, I am pissed that ABC has cancelled Bless This Mess. My favorite sitcom besides Modern Family in a long while. Characters were quirky and loveable… laughed out loud every episode. With all the crappy shows ABC keeps on the air and cancels this one. Boggles the mind – The Bachelor franchise – makes me throw up – and they keep coming up with other crap related to The Bachelor franchise – it needs its own network don’t you think? Is the Playboy channel still around? I am very very disappointed about this – what idiots. Yes, I am pissed.… Read more »
I only watched the first & second episodes… sorry, but I didn’t see the humor at all.
My husband and I loved Bless This Mess…so sad there won’t be a 3rd season.
This is one of the shows that most of my friends text about every week. My husband and I both look forward to watching.
It a funny and warm community of people and it always makes me laugh.
What can be done to bring it back?
Very enjoyable show , the dialogue was quick and sharp . The cast was wonderful ! Sorry to see it go the way of The Kids are Allright another good show that was cancelled .
So well written and acted. We loved this show! Can’t believe they had to cancel it.It was nice to see a show set in a rural part of the country. Not happy with ABC!
What a bunch of bs. This is such a good show, my husband and I both enjoy it. Anytime they get a new, different type of show, they take it off. We loved the show Grim, Life in Pieces, among many other super good comedies- if it isn’t a cop or hospital show, it doesn’t stand a chance.
It was my families favorite show. There hasn’t been a comedy this high of a caliber for many years. Pretty shameful ABC
