This news sounds more like a curse than a blessing. ABC has revealed that they’ve cancelled Bless This Mess so, it won’t be back for the 2020-21 season.
The Bless This Mess comedy series follows young newlyweds Mike and Rio Levine-Young (Dax Shepard and Lake Bell) who give up their lives in New York City to run a farm in Nebraska that Mike’s great-aunt left to him. The cast also includes Ed Begley Jr., Pam Grier, JT Neal, David Koechner, and Madison Curry.
The second season of Bless This Mess averaged a 0.67 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.64 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s even in the demo and up by 9% in overall viewers.
Despite Bless This Mess being one of ABC‘s few TV shows to actually gain viewers in its sophomore season, the network has still decided not to order a third season. Compared to the network’s other scripted series, Bless This Mess was a middle-of-the-road performer.
Both Single Parents and Bless This Mess are produced by 20th Century Fox Television (now owned by ABC parent company, Disney) and executive produced by Liz Meriwether (New Girl). Neither series was picked up for 2020-21 by ABC.
What do you think? Do you watch Bless This Mess TV series? Would you have watched season three on ABC?
So tired of all the boring, formulaic sitcoms that continue to be renewed by ABC while inventive gems like Bless this Mess are cancelled. Who at ABC is failing to recognize the popularity of quirky, smartly written series on other platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, etc? ABC has given this viewer more reason to watch streaming programs! Hoping another network or streaming vehicle is smarter than ABC & picks up Bless this Mess!
My wife and I would definitely watch another season…
Love the show, every episode got better and better.
hi bring back Bless This Mess! Best show since Stienfelt.
This is very disappointing! Literally the best show I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t understand why they would cancel this show? It was freakin hilarious. I literally laughed out loud so hard. It’s so sad especially when we don’t have a say so. What’s wrong with ABC? Makes me not want to support them.
This was a great show! They’re cancelling all the good ones!
Very disappointing very funny cute show lighthearted they always takeoff the good ones for entertainment! Was fun watching Dax and Lake, Ed and all of them are very cute together! Darn
Bless This Mess was the only Current Cellcom I watched it and I liked it very much, but I’m not surprised it was canceled. It’s just not for everyone.
I loved Bless This Mess- so sad it wasn’t renewed
I want Bless this Mess back. I want to see the pregnancy and baby!!!!!
I am So Sick of Watching ABC!! I loved this show and definitely couldn’t wait for the 3rd season before we just found out Rio was pregnant! I hate ABC because they are notorious for canceling show and not giving us more time to invest! Remember: Deception -1 season, Whiskey Cavalier(one of my favorite shows ever)- season, Reef Break -1 season, Take Two-season 1, Emergence-1 season and so on!! The only thing that ABC likes is the Bachelor/Bachelorette and all that crap. I guess I will watch General Hospital and be done with ABC
This is total BS! I hope some other entity picks it up. We love that show.
I Loved this show Bless this mess, we need these comedies on TV, too many reality shows.
I would have watched it enjoyed this show
I’m heartbroken. Bless this Mess was my favorite network TV. It was a great escape and had a terrific ensemble cast. All of the characters were wonderfully quirky.
I just discovered Bless This Mess on Hulu….have watched both seasons in 2 days and loved every single episode. I literally laughed out loud every show! I was so excited to see when season 3 would begin and saw this article that it was cancelled! I am sad and frustrated with ABC. It was a show I could watch and enjoy….laugh and feel great….smiling at the end….and could enjoy with my whole family. Just when you really get to love the characters, they pull a great show off the air. I agree that it is a shame to leave the… Read more »
