Shaw Media in Canada has cancelled Bomb Girls after two seasons. The TV series airs on Global Television in Canada and on ReelzChannel here in the US.
Bomb Girls revolves around a group of Canadian women who work in a munitions factory as they build bombs for the Allies during World War II. The cast includes Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour, Charlotte Hegele, Ali Liebert, Antonio Cupo, Sebastian Pigott, Peter Outerbridge, Anastasia Phillips, Jim Codrington, and Lisa Norton. Rosie O’Donnell guest-starred during the second season.
Though there won’t be a third season, Global has ordered a two-hour movie that will wrap up the series. A release notes that it “will conclude the rich storylines and the amazing journeys of these beloved characters which have strongly resonated with the show’s loyal fans.”
The TV movie will air in Winter 2014 in Canada. It seems likely that Reelz will purchase domestic rights to air the conclusion around that same time.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Bomb Girls has been cancelled? Are you looking forward to the movie?
Why not cancel this program, it was good. But any time something is good, it is cancelled, maybe we will have more vampires and something stupid about ducks.
Loved everything about the Bomb Girls. I cant believe such talent just gets pushed out for smut and reality crap. We need more supstance.
Thrilled for the movie but 5more seasons would be much more fitting.
I am upset to hear this was cancelled. This show was great. I love the fashion from this time period and the strong female characters.
I am soooo sad!! This a great show and with so much to learn. I just told my mother about this show, as her mother and my grandmother was a factory worker in a Boeing plant working with the airplanes for WWII. She recently received pictures from an aunts estate that showcased of all the women pictured in the airplane hanger in all of their infamous jumpsuits. Grandma past away 6 years ago and it was great to introduce this series to my mom as it was somewhat enlightening,as I could see a litle bit of my spunky spitfire grandma… Read more »
Fantastic Show. It is sad to see a great show like this leave and the junk that is currently the new shows this season on broadcast tv stay. Only 1 out of 10 shows are worth watching. I hope the movie is picked up here.
I also loved this show, and also think that shows of substance are cancelled while the junk continues to be every network
Loved this show!! I think someone should pick it up! Sad to hear it’s cancelled 🙁
Totally agree with all here. Great show, different, the history period, good characters and terrific costuming! Ah yes… not a “reality” crap show. Plus a “series” my husband looked forward to watching with me! Glad we saved last season on dvr, for a while.
Sorry, sad to see it go. Someone, please revive it!
My wife and I loved this show! We spotted it on netflix and gave it a shot, to which we were very delighted. The characters were great and the plots have a great mix of drama and comedy. We just finished watching the season 2 finale and are so hooked to know what occurs next. I’m gratify that there will be at least a movie to conclude this great piece of television art. I knew the show had a limited amount of historic time to continue with since the war was coming to a close in the show (the outlier… Read more »
I also started watching this show on netflicks. I can’t believe a series with such an amazing cast, costumes, history and intricately woven subplots is cancelled! I actually feel sad to leave the characters. Thank God there will be a movie as there were so many loose ends. And we all need to know what happens to these wonderful people!
It seems the shows that are different and stand alone on creativity only appeal to those of us with mature taste. My husband and I really looked forward to each new episode. So disappointed to see this one go. It is tiring to scan thousands of channels and find the same ideas and storylines being regurgitated and recycled. The Canadian WWII backdrop was a storyline that I have never seen. The show was so well done with a great cast! Watching “Bomb Girls” gave me a renewed interest in history. It is appreciated that this show will have closure for… Read more »
I agree with Helene, another network should pick it up and RUN with it. After searching for new episodes, I got a shocker to hear it had been canceled! Come on lets start alot of noise and get this series back on for a 3 rd season.
Why can’t one of the cable channels in the States pick-up the series or one of the net streaming services. I think there are enough fans to make it worth while.
Why why why, do the good show get cancelled but the crap goes on and on?
Love the show and sad it will not return. However looking forward to the movie. Hope it plays in the USA
I am devasted to hear this show was cancelled!!! I loved it!!!!
WHY DO ALL THE GREAT SHOWS GET CANCELLED…..AND ALL THE STUPID. REALITY SHOWS GO ON FOREVER! !!
