What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the TNT cable channel, Claws stars Niecy Nash, Carrie Preston, Harold Perrineau, Jenn Lyon, Judy Reyes, Karrueche Tran, Jason Antoon, Kevin Rankin, Jack Kesy, and Dean Norris. The dark dramedy follows the diverse and dangerous staff of the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, which launders money for the Dixie Mafia. The story centers on owner Desna Simms and her crew. She dreams of out getting out from under the mob’s thumb, and starting afresh in a beautiful new shop, but the universe may have other plans.
Season One Ratings

Telly’s Take
Although it officially premiered on June 11th, TNT ran a late-night surprise sneak peek of the Claws premiere episode after the May 25th NBC playoff game, to capitalize on its large audience. The ratings have remained pretty consistent so I think that TNT will renew Claws for a second season. I’ll keep hungry eye on the Nielsens and will update this page as needed. Omg I love this show!! The characters are relatable there is young, old, white, black, Indian, skinny, curves, gay, straight and a whole lot of fun and drama. Can not cancel this show. It will continue to BLOW UP!!! great job ladies.

It was overzealous with sex scenes and played on this generations ratchet form of entertainment that we see on reality TV to mask the fact that the writing was lackluster and played on the most overused stereotypes. The actors were not talented aside from Niecy Nash and a couple of the other cast members. The white guys character was just plain offensive and borderline culture appropriating of black men. I want more Claws! Please do not cancel this series. I’m not offended. Women have thousands of different roles to play in society. Some are not good but the struggle is real especially in certain communities. Yes there are stereotypes used to bring the message home. I see the struggles daily because I deal directly with people one on one. To me the message is someone who doesn’t want to give up on the dreams she has for her and her crew.
