Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
When i heard Daybreak was canceled i was deeply sadden. This show was my only favorite show to watch on tv! ABC you have not only have lost me as a viewer. But you have lost everybody else thats has signed this petition and that was a daybreak fan. Please bring the show back! Or at least put it online so fans can view it. Please, Please Please, Please, and Please…….
Day Break is awesome. I want it back!
replacing a serious serial drama with re-runs of a lukewarm sitcom starring carlos mencia’s joke factory? what were the abc execs smoking? I have been re-living the same day break finale-less day for almost three weeks now. seriously. it’s painful.
Daybreak was fantastic! It was innovative and original and really held your interest–especially when “Lost” has gotten to the point of being annoying due to its failure to give you any clue what is really going on. Besides, how many shows on network TV have a young African-American as the hero? The really great thing is that this show could cross racial lines and be appealing to people from every demographic. Why ABC would bail on this series is a mystery to me.
How were the ratings for 24 on Fox after the first season? Bring DayBreak back!
This is a good show. Actually, it is just like a network to put something out there and then stop it with out letting us, the viewer, have any say or input. Shame on you. This is a cleverly constructed show that should be brought to a conclusion. My vote is to put it back on.
Best TV Show ever. Bring it back!

Save Day break! I want to see a continue of fabulous shows. Quality in sound and image. We watch it all the time.
Please continue w/the Daybreak series. It is the only show I will watch. It is captivating. The actors, writing, production and casting was spot on. Star Trek was pulled too quickly when it first aired in the mid-60’s and we know that show spawned a couple of generations of sci-fi mania. Sponsers can be wrong sometimes. This is one of those times. Please return the show or sell it to a cable channel, just bring it back.
I have to admit that once I did not start watching these episodes until aabout a month ago, however after watching the first episode I was hooked. My 10 year old son is hooked too. He is extremely frustrated that the promised air date of the last episode of 2/28 has not happened yet.
shows like america’s worst video keeps playing, all the new wedding shows and they pull one with a real plot and story line. This really shows why ABC is not the my choice for primetime viewing any more. Bring back Day Break!!!
Awesome show….I am pissed I just found out it was pulled after pulling a non stop viewing online. Episode 13 better come out..
It’s bad enough that they cancelled the show, but it’s been almost 3 weeks since they put up the last INTERNET episode. ABC, you already have the whole seaon recorded. What’s the freakin’ hold up? Just put up the remaining TWO episodes and get it over with, will ya!?!?
Great show!!!!
I REALLY ENJOYED THE ACTION-DRAMA SERIES “DAYBREAK” AND WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE WHAT THE FINAL ENDING TO HOPPER’S “DAY” WIL BE .
