Operatives Jones and Beneventi won’t be uncovering answers on NBC in the 2021-22 television season. The Peacock network has cancelled the Debris TV series for a second year.
The Debris TV show stars Jonathan Tucker, Riann Steele, Norbert Leo Butz, and Scroobius Pip. The story begins as mysterious wreckage starts falling from the sky. A secretive international agency named Orbital is tasked with figuring out what the wreckage is, where it came from, and most importantly — what it can do. British MI6 operative Finola Jones (Steele) and American CIA agent Bryan Beneventi (Tucker) are partners but they have very different styles. However, they have no choice but to trust each other as they track down the debris scattered across the Western Hemisphere. Each fragment has unpredictable, powerful, and sometimes dangerous effects on the everyday people who find it. They must race against time as shadowy outside forces seek these objects for nefarious purposes.
Airing on Monday nights, the first season of Debris averaged a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.79 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Despite airing out of one of NBC’s highest-rated shows, The Voice, the drama was one of the network’s lowest-rated scripted shows.
The season finale of Debris aired on Monday night and not surprisingly left plotlines unresolved. The show’s series creator has talked about hoping to find a way to continue telling the story if it was cancelled.
Decisions have yet to be made on other NBC shows like Ellen’s Game of Games, Good Girls, Manifest, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
What do you think? Have you watched the Debris TV show? Do you wish that this sci-fi series had been renewed for a second season?
My husband and I watch and we amazed at how everyone whispered. Our volume was way up and frankly not surprised it was canceled.. We thought this was another “LOST”. No plan, let’s make it as we go along. I really won’t miss it
Yes. Please keep it.
Very disappointed they have cancelled Debris. Amongst a plethora of rubbish on TV it was one of my highlights. It was well made with a pretty unique premise. I really don’t understand how these decisions are made.
So incredibly disappointed Debris was canceled for 2nd season!!!
Stinks coz seems that major networks don’t give things a fair chance. Maybe Netflix will pick it up as they have with other shows that have been cancelled in past.
I know right. There are so many lame, rubbish shows on TV that just go on for season after season and then they cancel a good show like this. I can only assume it was a ratings issue which means either you and I have bad taste in TV or everyone else does. :-/
I’m leaning toward “everyone else” myself.
I loved this show. A very big disappointment, for sure 🙁
Yes bring it back
help=b4 i watch last eps–does it end up on ie waiting s2?or do we get answersssssssssssss–ta
I’m so disappointed. This was the only show I actually wanted to watch every episode. The script, plot and actors were all so creative. I hope another network picks it up.
Why such an interesting and amazing TV show is canceled?, it’s not the only one, but this one is so out of place, it’s so thrilling and with unexpected twists and turns…i was waiting every week for the new episode, for the exciting events that it will have, like what’s next, what they’ll find next, what will happen next, you weren’t sure about anything, any guess of what will happen it was exactly something else and unexpected. An AMAZING TV show that it’s a MUST to have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc seasons, but not like this, i LOVE SCi… Read more »
I am very disappointed the show debris was canceled after only one season. It seems like I’ve been disappointed more and more with NBC’s shows to the point I’m questioning even if it looks good with or not I want to watch it because it probably won’t be there halfway through the season or left hanging looking for a second which isn’t coming. When the networks create a new show they should be obligated to at least have two seasons to see if it catches on by the second season I’m to the point now I think I’m not even… Read more »
My feelings exactly! Maybe Netflix will pick it up ?????
My wife and I enjoyed watching this show. I hope another network picks it up
Something different. Good intrigue.
I was enjoying watching the mysteries of this Sci-Fi show unfold. I am very disappointed that it was canceled after only one season. I feel cheated, we were left with so many questions. I am continually being disappointed with NBC when it comes to Paranormal and Sci-Fi television shows. Maybe some other network will give it a chance.
I am a little upset that Debris will not be renewed; however, can understand its demise. I found it very interesting, but also somewhat confusing at times. This makes for people throwing up their hands & screaming “F it! I don’t understand” and not returning. It’s too bad really. I hope the creators find another avenue to fonish telling the story
Plain and simple NBC sucks! Loved the show. Apparently cancelled due to poor viewership, even though all episodes were highly rated by actual followers. Well I suppose the network will replace it with some dumb a** reality show. Why I seldom watch network shows.
