The story of Augustus Caesar and his wife Livia is over, at least on Domina. MGM+ has reportedly cancelled the show, declining to make a third season.
A historical drama series, the Domina TV show stars Kasia Smutniak, Matthew McNulty, Liah O’Prey, Ben Batt, Ewan Horrocks, Claire Forlani, Darrell D’Silva, Christine Bottomley, Alais Lawson, Benjamin Isaac, Joelle, and David Avery. The series revolves around the extraordinary rise of Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar’s third wife, Livia Drusilla (Smutniak). In the first season, Livia, the golden girl of the prominent Claudii family, returned to Rome after 10 years in exile, determined to regain everything that was stolen from her. In the second season, atop a fractious empire and a dysfunctional dynasty, she must fight to preserve her marriage to Gaius and find a way to seat one of her sons on the throne, as new and old rivals jockey for position in a world where it’s impossible to know who to trust.
The series launched in June 2021, and the second season, consisting of eight episodes, aired in July and August last year. MGM+ isn’t part of the Nielsen ratings system, so we don’t have viewership numbers, but a two-year gap between seasons likely didn’t help maintain viewer interest. TVLine was the first to report the cancellation.

Definitely disappointed it’s been cancelled. It was a wonderful show. Beautifully rendered version of facts as we know them (of course we can never really know, but then that’s what makes it all the more interesting). Rome now is religious and fashion tourist spot. I am intrigued with Roman history now, especially since a woman, at one point in Roman history, was able to navigate “the world of men” so expertly. Really wishing for a Season 3 as well done as the previous two seasons. I binge-watched them both, btw.
I was looking forward to season 3 of ‘Domina’ only to find out it has been cancelled. Alongside many other people who loved watching this TV series, I feel disappointed by this decision. Due to this show, my interest in history has grown, and I even bought books about Livia Drusilla and Imperial Rome to learn more about the subject. It was such a great show and I still hope it will have its comeback one day.

Extremely disappointed to hear the show has been cancelled. Every episode has you wondering what will happen next and is set in a great period in our history. Top quality acting from all involved and the story kept me wanting more. Hard to understand how some absolute rubbish tv shows are green lit for more seasons and the likes of Domina are canned….what a joke of a decision.

I am very disappointed to hear this. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons very much. I thought the casting was excellent, the history was accurate, and the writers made an interesting story out of a vast amount of historical detail. I was very much looking forward to Season 3
