No stranger to television, Katherine Heigl had a long tenure on ABC’s successful Grey’s Anatomy TV series. Her next show, State of Affairs, was cancelled after one season on NBC. Now, she’s back on the small screen with a CBS legal drama called Doubt. How will this series do in the ratings? Will Doubt be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
The Doubt TV show stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis; Elliot Gould as Isaiah Roth; Laverne Cox as Cameron Wirth; Dreama Walker as Tiffany Simon; and Kobi Libii as Nick Brady. Sadie is a brilliant attorney who starts to fall for her charismatic client. Pediatric surgeon Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale) was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend, 24 years ago. Sadie has to hide her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb (Dulé Hill). Getting involved with her client could put Sadie’s career and happiness at risk — particularly if Billy is found guilty. She must work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even while she has some doubts of her own.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
2/25 update: CBS has pulled Doubt from the schedule after only two episodes. Details here.
8/13 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Did you like the Doubt TV show on CBS? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
5/17 update: It’s official. There will be no second season of Doubt. Details here.
CBS didn’t give this show much of a chance- it got much better as the characters developed and the plot thickened… I enjoyed the remaining episodes and hope “somebody” will pick it up for season 2!
I loved this show please bring it back
I don’t understand why it was cancelled. I enjoy it very much..the story lines are interesting, the characters are cool and interesting. It’s typical though, after two or three shows they cancel. They don’t give people a chance to see it cuz they move it around so you never know when its on. Give it it a chance.
Really enjoyed the series would like to see more
Corrections to my post: … and even fantastic actors! Also I want to see the show “uncancelled”! Sorry fir the auto-correct!
I so agree with comments by Otis and Janelle. This show has been a breath of fresh air. Something to keep us thinking and feeling! Rather than reality shows that make people more numbed out and ignorant, this show has revealed great storylines, incredible characters and eve fantastic actors. This show needs to be unconcealed and aired in a night that will give it the visibility it deserves. To use the summertime and Saturday nights as the gauge of whether it is worthy of another season is ludicrous. It was not well promoted either. So give it another season in… Read more »
They must have lost their minds cancelling this show. Just watched E12 and E13. Great stuff. Excellent story lines, artful surprises. CBS showing daft buffoonery in their failure to give this a little time to gel. Some patience they would have had a winner.
OMG… Just watched the season finale of doubt and I loved it. This show is awesome. I cannot believe how it ended and now to find out that it’s cancelled so that is it I will never see what happens this just sucks. I love everyone on this show. The cast was awesome. Once again another good show is being cancelled and for what so we can watch another reality show, singing show, dance show. So so tired of the same old shows on tv. So please bring this show back for a second season…. For once give a show… Read more »
I really enjoyed this series, I generally can take or leave Katherine Heigl but in this case she did very well, and everyone else’s characters were well rounded, Dule’ Hill, Laverne Cox, and Elliott Gould were excellent. I thought the story and the cases were interesting and well constructed, it may have been some of Mr. Hill and Ms. Walkers best work. But it appears that since it’s not being produced by some famous comedian who can get a show green-lit about some weird crap they came up with while getting high with friends like a talking dog, or an… Read more »
So good!!!! Please renew!!!!!
Great Series. Should NOt have been cancelled. Bring it back!
Well done. A good cast. Great storyline. Good detective stories. Cannot understand in any way whe cancelled.
Great show. Should be renewed or picked. Excellent cast and story lines
Well i am officially bummed. I spent the past few weeks staying up late watching because I love this show and didn’t want to miss a thing. Now there is one week left and they aren’t renewing it… Seriously! Now we are all going to be left with “what happened next” syndrome. You know, I love Katherine, bit it toom me a while to get used to her role as sadie because of how “State of Affairs” never ended. So maybe if the end a show decently, we won’t spend the first few weeks of a new show wondering what… Read more »
