Click your heels together three times and make a wish, Oz fans. EPs Shaun Cassidy and David Schulner are ready, willing, and able to make a second season of the Emerald City TV show, should NBC choose to take them up on it. The first 10-episode limited season concluded its run on Friday, March 3rd, with the finale episode, “There’s No Place Like Home.”
A limited event series, Emerald City starred Adria Arjona, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, Joely Richardson, and Vincent D’Onofrio. Isabel Lucas, Roxy Sternberg, Stefanie Martini, Rebeka Rea, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson recurred on the NBC fantasy drama, based on the Oz novels by L. Frank Baum.
EPs Ready to Make Emerald City Season Two for NBC
Every week during Emerald City‘s network run, the duo has discussed behind-the-scenes happenings and explained the details of the new NBC TV series with Entertainment Weekly. This week, they shared their thoughts in the form of a thank you note. In it, Cassidy and Schulner indicated they’d love to make more of the fantasy drama. Here’s more from EW.com.
As you have seen in our finale, “No Place Like Home” (written by David Schulner and Josh Carlebach), this story has now ended, but a new one lies ahead. Should NBC choose to make another limited series based on Baum’s characters, David and I would welcome the opportunity. If not, know that this has been one of the most fulfilling experiences either of us has enjoyed, and we remain humbled by all of our brilliant creative partners who made this show so exceptional.
With gratitude to all of you,
Shaun Cassidy & David Schulner

Emerald City: A Look at the Season One Ratings
While Cassidy and Schulner would love to make a new season of Emerald City, what are the odds NBC will want one? Well, we think they’re about as low as the show’s ratings in season one.
In its first season, the Emerald City TV show averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 3.027 million viewers. As of today, those numbers mean the show is 17th out of The Peacock Network’s 17 scripted shows we’re tracking, when sorted by their demo numbers.
When sorted by total viewers, Emerald City rises just one notch to 16th place, in terms of audience size — beating out only the new sitcom, Powerless. In fact, even when compared to NBC’s non-scripted (i.e. less expensive to produce) programming, Emerald City‘s numbers leave it at the bottom of the barrel. Only Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon is a weaker Nielsen performer.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season on NBC? Do you think the Emerald City TV show will be cancelled or renewed for season two?
This show was amazing. please find another network to keep the story going. come on #netflix or #hulu this series is right up your alley.
I really enjoyed the season. I’m really hoping we get to see the rightful queen in emerald city and what happens to the lion still lots to cover aswell with the witch and many many more great characters.
I say YES!!! Bring on season 2 please x
Yes and I loved it, now I’ll never know the rest and that sucks.
Please do not end it like that. Find another network. Get Hulu to help make this happen. This is a awesome show. I was addicted.
Ditch NBC. Get Seasons 2 and 3 on a new network. Replace the weakest writer (Schulner) so the writing stays consistently good. Cast, crew, and director are amazing. Make a simple “screening room” website with all the Season 1 episodes available for free so more viewers join the fan base and are ready for Season 2.
cant end like this argggg please season 2
please please please best thing ive watch since game of throne
PLEASE SEASON 2 LOVE THIS SHOW ARGGGGG
Emerald City was my favorite series, hands down! The locations chosen for filming really added to the exotic feel of the story. I thought all the characters had a lot of depth to them. The story telling was smart, not spoon feeding you every detail up front but building the story lines. Loved all the twists and turns! My husband and son didn’t want to watch it, but once they did they were hooked too. If nbc doesn’t renew maybe netflicks will buy it.
It got better as it went along. Don’t do a Firefly and cancel to too soon! ( Again)
I love the show please bring it back
I loved this show…please renew….only series I looked forward to watching weekly in years…5 stars…and my first time posting regarding a tv show
Best TV Series!!! Don’t understand the low ratings?!? Plz Renew!!
I strongly think Emerald City should have a lot more seasons to come. Not only because it was the first tv show about the land of oz every made, but because it was greatest show that was made after all books and movies about oz but because all of that and we could pass on books movies and a TV show to our grands. If it wasn’t for my grand parents reading to us as kids and watch the wiz, and the wizard of oz,and a musical of oz and the life and times of the wicked witch of oz and… Read more »
Loved it – please renew!
