What’s This TV Show About?
A British-American Hulu drama, The First stars Sean Penn, Natascha McElhone, LisaGay Hamilton, Hannah Ware, Keiko Agena, Rey Lucas, James Ransone, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Melissa George, Brian Lee Franklin, and Oded Fehr. The story centers on the astronaut crew attempting to be the first humans on Mars, as well as the families they’ll leave behind.
The First has been cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless they decide to publicize viewership statistics, it is difficult to predict whether Hulu will cancel or renew The First for season two. While there are positive reviews, many note that this is not the type of fare sci-fi fans may expect. Will that help or hurt its chances? Stay tuned. please renew for several more seasons . Would love to see this group land and live on mars. Similar to the old LOST In Space tv series or Star Trek when I was a kid. No new science fiction television shows anymore. Make it happen . This will be great!!
Delighted to have suddenly discovered this. Penn always a fine actor. As with many new shows it was a slow start but became engrossing, great tech, backstories, excellent cast. Intelligent. Beautiful, emotional, human. Positive. Please renew.

Please Please Please renew for second season…I have just binged watched “The First” and I am totally hooked…..Don’t leave us hanging!!
“The First” is the most scientifically plausible and humanly realistic rendition of an initial exploratory mission to Mars that has been made. It’s also engrossing television. It would be very short-sighted to cancel it.
Was ready to dislike this show because of Sean Penn’s outspokenness but the show is really good. I enjoyed all of the characters and their back stories and the acting was superb. Hoping for season 2.
