A couple weeks ago, we reported that President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler said that the network had six leftover episodes of Flashpoint and that they “most likely” would air over the Summer. She noted that the TV show has been a good utility player for CBS but didn’t indicate if it had much of a future there.
CBS licenses Flashpoint from Canada and ran most of the season three episodes last summer. CTV has already ordered season four and those 18 episodes are currently being produced.
It’s now being reported that CBS has licensed seven of those new installments of Flashpoint, will combine them with the leftover six, and run the 13 episodes this summer.
ION has purchased a syndication package of the 62 episodes of Flashpoint, including the 11 episodes that CBS didn’t purchase. The cable channel is expected to begin running the series sometime after the CBS run.
This is certainly good news for faithful viewers but it seems like this may signal the end of Flashpoint on CBS. Fortunately, it looks like the show’s future isn’t dependent on CBS’ participation since CTV ordered season four without the US network.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear there’s more Flashpoint coming?

I am so happy that Flashpoint is back on CBS. I also get ION so I am ready to switch to that channel, too. Just so Flashpoint, my very favorite show, is still on the air.
Please keep these episodes coming. They are so great. Edge of your seat stuff all the way through and very professionally done.
I love the show and sorry that our American Networks seemed to have no loyalty to shows they vet. They only go by Nielson Ratings which is an ancient system in today’s busy, internet, TiVO, and Torrent society.
[…] may recall that, back in January, CBS made an unusual deal for more episodes of Flashpoint. Last summer, CBS didn’t get around […]
Flashpoint is one of our favorite TV shows and one of the best shows on TV. We will be very disapointed if it doesn’t return in the US.
Please keep it going,
This has been a terrific show since day one….by all means keep it going
Yes, another good show that the network decides to take off the air. Does anyone at CBS actually watch what they show? This is a good program without alot of sex and romance that is good to watch with the family. Can’t say that for many shows. I am so sick of all the reality shows. I may have to take up reading.
So glad to hear that CTV is continuing Flashpoint. There are so few intelligent shows on TV these days.
Loved the show and so glad to hear that it will be coming back on this summer. Wish that CBS had puchased all of the episodes though. Will be glad to see all of them on Ion.
Flashpoint is an awesome show – very true to life with excellent actors & intereting characters. As a Canadian production it is as good or even better as some of its American counterparts. Hope to see it back soon.
one of the best shows i’ve ever watched and certainly THE best Canadian show ever watched. please don’t cancel this realistic and humane story about what it takes to “keep the peace”. This show does we Canadians proud and can compete with any american show on t.v. !!!!
My whole family loves this show and we look forward every summer to being able to watch it. It was sad that CBS did not run all of the episodes last summer as it left viewers hanging on several of the story lines. If CBS is not going to keep airing this show, it doesn’t matter to me whether it is on CBS or Ion–I will just be happy to be able to watch it.
Flashpoint was/is one of my favorite shows and I HATE it that it was taken off the air. CBS makes a habit of getting people hooked on shows and then pulling them. Keep it up CBS, there are many other channels to watch. Maybe you’ll get many fewer viewers.
One of the best shows . Glad we do not have to depend on CBS.
Love this show…..PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!!!
