As you may have noticed, ABC doesn’t typically announce if General Hospital has been renewed for another year, it just keeps running. No news is often good news. The venerable soap has been on the air for over six decades and is the alphabet network’s sole surviving daytime drama. Will General Hospital survive to see a 63rd season and the 2025-26 network TV season? Could ABC announce a renewal this time, or could it be cancelled and replaced by a talk show? Stay tuned.
Debuting in 1963 on April 1st, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. Actors appearing in the current season include Tabyana Ali, Jens Austin Astrup, Maurice Benard, Alexa Havins Bruening, Braedyn Bruner, Steve Burton, Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Nancy Lee Grahn, Tanisha Harper, Finola Hughes, Jonathan Jackson, Josh Kelly, Brook Kerr, Katelyn MacMullen, Kate Mansi, Cameron Mathison, Sofia Mattsson, Giovanni Mazza, Eden McCoy, Amanda Setton, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Donnell Turner, Kristen Vaganos, Kristina Wagner, Cynthia Watros, Maura West, Sawandi Wilson, Laura Wright, and Dominic Zamprogna.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The 2023-24 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.22 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 1.97 million total viewers.

I have enjoyed general hospital since I was a little girl. Watched it with my mother everyday. She let me stay home from school for Luke and Laura’s wedding! I love all characters, they are like my second family. Please keep going. It’s part of my life.
I love GH and I would be devastated if they were cancelled. Best show ever and the actors are superb. I’m 70 and have watched it since I was a kid.
I have watched general hospital since day 1. I watched with my mother and I will continue to watch till I am gone. I even turned my husband into a fan. We watch together. 1 am 71 and I need my general hospital. TV doesn’t cater to my age group and that is not fair. We watch TV where the younger generations stream everything. I love General Hospital, I have been watching it since day one. I’m 76yrs old now. It would be devastating for me if it was ever be canceled.

I’ve been watching this show since I was 12 years old with my best friend and we are now in our fifties and continue to watch the show. I would love the show to continue. The only negative that I would have to say is I was sincerely heartbroken when they killed the character Dax Jocelyn’s love interest off the show. I was truly happy that she had a true love interest on the show

Love General Hospital. It’s always been there as a great cathartic experience for me when times have been hard or when I’ve been sick. I hope it continues indefinately. It’s the show you can watch and think, “Thank God, that’s not my life.”
Have loved General Hospital from the beginning. The new storyline for Josslyn is intriguing and Sidwell is a great new bad guy.
I’ve enjoyed General Hospital since the beginning and I hope it outlives me. The actors have been amazing at developing and carrying their characters. It’s been quite a mistake to fire key characters and distrupted the fabulous writers and their storyline. I especially appreciate tthe socially redeeming subjects. I’m glad to see the new plots taking off. Don’t sabotage for CBS. GH has class, drama, and intrigue. Bring back Sam and dont fire anyone else.
