After 13 years of movies and TV show episodes, magic is leaving the town of Middleton. Hallmark Channel has decided to end the Good Witch series so there won’t be an eighth season. The series finale airs on Sunday, July 25th.
A fantasy comedy-drama series, Good Witch stars Catherine Bell, James Denton, Sarah Power, Catherine Disher, Kylee Evans, Katherine Barrell, Marc Bendavid, and Scott Cavalheiro. Set in the town of Middleton, the show follows Cassandra “Cassie” Nightingale (Bell). She’s the owner of a shop called Bell, Book & Candle and is married to Dr. Sam Radford (Denton). Like her daughter Grace, Cassie has the gift of enchanted insight and magical intuition. The velvet pouches of soil discovered by Cassie, Abigail (Power), and Joy (Barrell) at the end of season six mark the start of a new Merriwick mystery for the cousins to unravel. This leads them to reflect on their pasts and how certain life events have impacted who they are now. Alongside the usual Middleton fun, season seven promises new relationships, personal challenges, and romance.
The seventh season of Good Witch is averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.53 viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season six, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 18% in viewership. It’s one of Hallmark’s lowest-rated series but still does pretty well when compared to other cable dramas.
Here’s the series ending announcement from Hallmark:

My heart sank to read the cancelation of “Good Witch “. I enjoyed watching for years and watching the reruns. Excited for new season. Now to read cancelation. What a shame Hallmark.
JOANNA it’s a real shame Good witch is being canceled. I really enjoyed the series and will miss it…might b a big mistake on hallmarks choice. Maybe less Reba and golden girls and more hallmark movies. No wonder the ratings have declined the schedule this year hasn’t been good at all.
I am not happy! This is one of the best shows out there. I can’t believe it is being cancelled. This is not right. I even changed cable services and got Frndly to keep Hallmark. Guess I will be canceling that after the finale.
Also, there is a new head of the channel. Not sure if this is the new person deciding, or fallout from the previous person.
That sucks. Probably is the reason.
Hallmark is really going downhill. Between this and all the old sitcoms it’s pretty bad.
I love watching Good Witch. Its one of the better shows on TV. I hope the Hallmark Channel changes there decision.
Nooooo! Love it!
This makes me so sad. I absolutely LOVE Good Witch. It is delightful and family friendly. I love the stories about the folk of Middleton, the mysteries, and their interactions with each other. I would watch for another 10+ yrs. (This show has helped me through a bad patch of anxiety) I wish they would re-consider.
I signed up to get cable on my TV so I could watch as much Good Witch as I wanted. I rarely watch TV, and this show is the only thing I watch on the Hallmark channel. (I won’t be needing cable anymore.)
That is messed up this show has me n my daughter watching together n been waiting on my more this is sad to see leave… My daughter will be sadden by this
Cancelling a GOOD SHOW!? Shame
Soo upset! Love this show what fun clean energy it has why would they cancel such a great show that has everything! Is there nothing we can do?
Love this series. Look forward to watching it every season.
I am so sorry that you are canceling a good show as Good Witch.I love watching this show. Please don’t cancel it.
It’s one of my favorite shows!! Just like Cedar Cove you take off the ones that are actually great stories!! Shame on you!!
Stupid move. You keep the dead like ‘Signed Sealed’ & garbage like Cedar Cove. Then you dump a show that can appeal to an IQ of more than single digits! Your programing staff is brain dead. Decisions like this will
will take out the whole network. Let it be soon.
