Pay-for-view channel Starz has announced that Gravity won’t be back for a second year. The show completed its run last week after just 10 episodes.
Gravity is a dramatic comedy that follows a group from an eccentric out-patient program for suicide survivors. Co-created by Eric Schaeffer and Jill Franklyn, the cast includes Schaeffer, Ivan Sergei, James Martinez, Krysten Ritter, Rachel Hunter, Robyn Cohen, Seth Numrich, and Ving Rhames.
Starz had high hopes for the series but it just never caught on. The season (now series) finale attracted an invisible 0.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 54,000 viewers. To no surprise, Starz has admitted that neither Gravity nor Party Down will be returning for another round.
In a statement, Stephan Shelanski, Starz’ executive VP of programming, said, “After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”
What do you think? Did you watch Gravity? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

gravity… the gravity of this situation is outrageous… what about that cop? does he have cancer or what? what about the vintage shop? will it sell? what about the rest of the unfinished storylines? It’s like defying gravity… you people are geniouses… you know the perfect timing for killing a show… the human race… existing to extinguish itself… rock on!
I actually just watched a movie with the main character from gavity in it so i decided to google it because i noticed that the second season hasn’t started yet… i loved the show and would love to see it come back again. i myself found it on demand and watched every episode untill i had to wait for new ones.
I love this show! It didn’t catch on because it was poorly marketed. My sister introduced me to it, and she only found it because she stumbled onto it on Netflix. We watched all 10 episodes over two days. I’m 29, so I think I fit the network’s target audience. Too bad Starz or some other network couldn’t give it another chance; it was great.
Gravity, Party Down, Crash(RIP Dennis Hopper) cancelled? Starz sucks, they always cancel great shows….Think I will cancel them from my cable bill.
It’s just under appreciated. People should just watch Jersey Shore, because watching ugly little hoes hook up is more interesting then an actual story line. Bring Gravity BACK!
Gravity was an awesome show, I’m 18, and I loved it, I would run home just to watch it on Wednesdays. It was a good show, and it shouldn’t have been taken off the air as most of my friends also watched it. It may have not appealed to different audiences, but it sure made it’s impact on some people. It’s not fair to come out with this show, and cancel it suddenly, who was shot in the finale? Ughh, I guess I’ll never know. Thanks, HBO for cancelling a good show.
Why is it a show that makes us think and has some sense of value gets cancelled after one season while a brainless show like Jersey Shore lives on. Are successful TV shows supposed to be dumbed down ????????
I think another network would be smart to pick this up and publicize it! It hit so many places in me….I watched the whole season in 2 days and the final scene still had me wondering and literally knocked the breath out of me until I finally caught it again and sobbed….TV never does that to me…..someone DO SEASON 2!!!
I lovedddd that show. im soooo madd! i just think that it should have been advertised more. i only came across it because i was bored and went through everything. but i LOVED it. 🙁
I loved the show. I never seen any commercials about this show. I stumbled across it on demand and watched the entire series in 1 day. I’m sad to see it go =( They should’ve advertised it better!!
WTF!!!! I LOVED THIS SHOW. I AM 18 AND FREAKEN IN LOVE WITH IT PLEASE MAKE A SEASON TWO….. PLEASE……
Why do you choose to torture us with only 10 episodes? Is this some kind of joke? I hope you good people that make these descisions realize your killing us out here. All TV sucks for the most part, then suddenly a well written inventive thought provoking show comes along and you guys pull the plug on it to show more westerns from the 70’s. Please reinstill my faith in the pay channel community, shoot a second season and don’t listen to the retards that want to watch the bachlorette or some other stupid show.
Gravity was a genius show. I’m really disappointed that it was cancelled. Why is it always the middle of the road boring crap that runs for seven seasons, while anything interesting can’t make it more than one?
Too bad HBO or any other network didn’t pick it up. I guess the writing was too good for a tv show…not enough people who could follow dialogue.
I am 28- I loved the show. I only started watching it when I came across it on On demand and then I couldn’t stop. I literly did not sleep until I saw every epidose.
How horrible that we will never know what the ending is!!
