NBC has decided to cancel their struggling comedy Growing Up Fisher after a single season of 13 episodes. While there won’t be a second season, there are still two new episodes to come.
Growing Up Fisher follows an unorthodox family that becomes closer after the parents divorce. The cast includes Elfman, J. K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley, and Lance Lim. Jason Bateman is the show’s narrator.
The sitcom started off with okay ratings — at least when compared to NBC’s other comedies. They dropped over the course of the season however and hit a new series low this week with a 1.2 demo rating and 5.05 million total viewers. That surely didn’t help this show’s chances.
There are two unaired episodes remaining and NBC has announced that they will air in a one-hour block on Wednesday, May 28th.
What do you think? Did you like this sitcom? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled it or renewed Growing Up Fisher for season two?
Terrific show. A mixture of Wonder Years, Leave it to Beaver, and Father Knows Best, while based on a true story. Really like the cast. Even purchased more Farmers Insurance as well. Made extra effort to not miss any episodes.
NBC please re-consider. Growing Up Fisher has been a delightful addition to our Tuesday evening programming. ..Excellent acting makes this sitcom come alive each week YOU are making a mistake!!
Seriously who rates these. I loved the show and so did my family. NBC you always cancel the good ones!
What are you thinking NBC! Canceling a show which actually had some real family values! There is so much crap on TV but this show was cute, funny and refreshing! Shame on you for not even giving it a chance!!!!!!
This was a show that my daughters and I could watch together that wasn’t nasty and raunchy!? Why? Would you cancel a good family show!? Devastated!
I think it’s a great show and look forward to it every week. This is very disappointing . it shouldn’t be cancelled.
We were really glad that there was finally a sitcom we could enjoy. We did not engage in sitcoms until this one came along after a couple of decades. WHY????
This show was the ONLY TV Sitcom that I have watched for 25 years, literally. I thought it was funny and engaging. What in the heck?! I have been totally bored and repulsed with the offering of sitcoms all these years. What a shame; what a mistake.
I really like Jenna Elfman. I have since Dharma & Greg. I’d watch her in anything. This show was funny. It was a great pairing with “About A Boy”.
I must agree that canceling “Growing up Fisher” was a huge mistake. It showed the masses that having a handicap was okay, just part of life and that in life you could be anything you dream. You doing a huge disservice to your audience. One of the few shows the whole family sat down, watched and enjoyed together. Hopefully NBC will reconsider this misguided decision.
I think it’s ludicrous to cancel this show!!!,
BRING IT BACK OR RENEW the show!!!
SHAME!
Such a shame!!
Many people have loved watching this show & laughed about it since they are visually impared but can relate to things on the show & lighten their own challenges they face each day. Are these people BLIND to what REAL people need??? Laughter and for others in this world to SEE what blind people deal with. SHAME on CBS.
Get back with me on this, or are you heartless too!!!
OuPs!
It’s on NBC…..which means…..NO BODY CARES!!!
My daughter and I love this show MAD at NBC
I can’t believe they NBC is cancelling this show! Growing up Fisher is the first sit-com I have watched in years – and now it’s going off the air! It is well written, a great combo of humor, family and life lessons – I am so upset. Maybe another network will pick it up – NBC didn’t even give it a chance.
Hope someone with a real heart picks up this show!
You have made a HUGE mistake cancelling Growing Up Fisher. This was a wonderful show. It had great potential and you didn’t give it time. Seriously NBC, I remember when you were #1. I am guessing no one else there does. CBS should pick this show up right away. At least it would have an audience.
Great show, interesting concept. Neat father-son and father -daughter relationships. So well written. We looked forward to it each week. Can,t believe it would be pulled. Any chance a write-in campaign would help??
