You can’t keep the home fires burning in UK. The Home Fires TV show has been cancelled by ITV. Actor Daniel Ryan, who played Bryn Brindsley in the World War II era drama, broke the bad news on Twitter. His tweet reads: “So, it is with huge sadness I must tell you that #HomeFires has been cancelled. Awful to leave stories untold and lives incomplete. Sorry.”
Executive producer Catherine Oldfield also tweeted about the Home Fires cancellation, saying: “So very sorry that #Homefires won’t be back. We loved making the show & that it was well received by so many made it all the more special.” The Home Fires cast also includes: Samantha Bond, Francesca Annis, Ruth Gemmell, Claire Rushbrook, Ed Stoppard, Chris Coghill, Clare Calbraith, Fenella Woolgar, Mark Bazeley, and Mike Noble. Many of them have tweeted about the cancellation, too.
The second season of the Home Fires TV series is set during the summer of 1940. The village of Great Paxford is caught up in the the Battle of Britain. Two weeks after the defeat at Dunkirk, with the German army advancing through France, Britain braces itself for invasion.
Home Fires season two ended on a cliffhanger, with a plane nose-diving into a home in the village.

Radio Times reports ITV has confirmed it cancelled Home Fires. “An ITV spokesman said: ‘We are incredibly proud of what Home Fires has achieved, but the ITV commissioning team continues to refresh the channel’s drama portfolio, hence the decision not to commission a further new series’.”
The Radio Times poll currently shows 97% of respondents disagree with ITV’s decision to cancel Home Fires. Fans are petitioning ITV via Change.org, to recommission Home Fires for a third season. As of this writing, it has 7,463 signatures. In the US, the first season of Home Fires premiered on PBS in October, 2015.

I was so disappointed to find out there was no Season 3. I binged watched Season 1 and 2 and enjoyed it immensely. Please bring the show back!
Bring Home Fires back please. I just finished watching the last episode of season two.. I really want to see this series continued. Wonderful story line, exceptional acting. Why would this be discontinued? Please bring it back and continue the saga.

How can ITV not finish a series? Why start a story you are not going to finish? A story ends with a plane crashing into the doctor’s house where a new baby is being born while a wedding is taking placed!!

Such a shame this fine series was cancelled, this is hard to believe. If a series is not going to be completed it should never have been started, to reel us in and stop mid series is disgusting not only for the public but also for the cast. Happened to Lost in Space in the 60’s both bad decisions
Just finished watching Season 2 of Home Fires on Amazon, only to learn that there will not be a Season 3. I agree with everyone else, what was ITV thinking? I wish Amazon productions would buy the rights and complete this gripping drama. Great cast & writers. With all the junk on TV a great show like this gets cancelled.
Really?! I just watched both seasons on Amazon prime. Loved this show! So well made and was enjoying the storyline. Was totally shocked to find out there will be no third season. What are you people thinking?! Why, do these stations always cancel good shows?? This show needs to be brought back! PLEASE!
Watched Home Fires first-time around and enjoyed it so much I’m now watching the reruns. Great programme and I can’t understand why it was discontinued,especially on such a cliffhanger. Please please please bring Home Fires back.
Homefires is a wonderful series. I’m tired of getting hooked into a good series that gets cancelled. This one was doing all of the right things and had so many paths to go down in the story telling. I’m very sad.

I cannot believe that Home Fires has been cancelled. It is apparent that the intention was to have a third season because of how season two ended. It is also apparent that the series was extremely well received and loved by its viewers. So, what happened? I loved the series because everything about it was quality: the acting, directing, dialogue, cinematography, and story line. Not to mention the fact that so many important issues were addressed. I recently discovered Home Fires in Amazon and quickly watched the 2 seasons. So well done! I loved it! I could not believe there was no Season 3. I had started to tell friends about it.. Now I will tell them not to watch those 2 seasons because the end of the second season leaves SO MUCH unresolved. Such a disappointment and really hard to understand.
