Last week, we reported that Netflix had renewed House of Cards for a fifth season. However, the news was bittersweet as it was also announced that series creator Beau Willimon would be leaving the show after its upcoming season. Kevin Spacey recently addressed Willimon’s exit, as TVInsider reports.
Spacey spoke about the showrunner’s departure after his recent Screen Actors Guild Awards win for Best Drama Actor for the series.
Spacey said that there are no plans at the moment regarding Willimon’s departure and his replacement:
We have’t made any decisions about who might come in. There’s a tremendous discussion to be had.”
The actor then continued to wish the showrunner the best and said that future seasons of House of Cards “will, without question, honor the road he paved.”
Season four of House of Cards returns for a fourth season on March 4th.
What do you think? Do you watch House of Cards? Do you think the show will change after Willimon leaves?
