Well, there’s one dangerous situation that Christopher Chance can’t escape. FOX has cancelled Human Target after two seasons on the air. No season three.
Human Target follows a private bodyguard and security expert (Mark Valley) who protects his clients by integrating himself into their lives and becaomes a “human target.” He’s aided by his business partner, Winston (Chi McBride), and a tech genius named Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley). In the second season, a former client (Indira Varma) becomes his benefactor and an expert thief (Janet Montgomery) joins the team to seek redemption.
The series debuted back in January 2010 to a positive 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.12 million total viewers. Subsequent episodes had some solid numbers (thanks in large part to American Idol) but the latter part of the season really declined. The season finale brought in a mere 1.9 rating and season one averaged a 2.9 rating and 9.6 million viewers.
The show was on the bubble for renewal last May but FOX ultimately decided to give the series a second chance to get better ratings. That didn’t pan out.

Last November, season two of Human Target debuted to a week 1.8 rating in the demo and 6.59 million viewers. The network kept it on through the holidays, the ratings got worse, and by January it seemed like they’d given up on the series. The final episodes of the season performed a bit better but, again, thanks to being teamed American Idol. Season two averaged a 1.7 demo rating and 6.4 million viewers.
As one of the network’s lowest scripted series of the season, it seemed like just a matter of time before FOX would cancel Human Target. Last night, they officially did. Despite some devout fans, Human Target just wasn’t a winner in the ratings. After 25 episodes, the show is over.
What do you think? Should Human Target have been renewed for season three? Why didn’t more people watch the TV series?

Initially, the show dazzled with action and fight scenes normally reserved for A movies. This quickly declined into B movie stuff that meant it had to rely soley on character-driven stories and legacy sympathy.
I like the show and would have kept watching it, but it lacked the edge that would have kept it on air longer. A shame really. Work a credible Jason Bourne-style fight scene into every episode and the series would have had all the ingredients for continued success.
Thought season 1 was ok, but season 2 was superb, some new characters really added to the whole show. Guerrero was the coolest character on tv, bar none. Absolutely gutted it’s cancelled. Someone will hopefully pick up this excellent programme and show it prime time. Come on dudes, take a chance ( no pun intended ) and BRING IT BACK!!!!!
I’m so tired of all the Prime Time Channels never giving great new shows a chance to survive. If they keep them on the same time & day maybe the audience won’t have a problem watching it every week. Human Target shouldn’t have wasted their time on Prime Time Channels and should have just seek a time slot on one of the Cable Channels. I’m crossing my fingers that a Cable Channel will pick up this Great Show. This show had a great team of actors and I’ll miss them all.
Its a shame the show was cancelled! I thought it was great, full of actiom and humor. I LOVED IT. Im sure going to miss it….
I loved the show. Characters were great. Drama, romance, comedy!
Again it looka like the network execs have their heads up their back side. Poor ratings?! HOw do you figure? Where do you get your numbers? You move a series all over the place and can’t quite figure out WHY the series has poor ratings. You people never gave it a fighting Chance, pun intended. You can keep your pathetic reality, cop, csi shows. I think watching dvd’s and listening to music is better. YOu can’t cancel my dvd’s or my music. But I can cancel you off my list of channels to watch. Too bad because you actually had… Read more »
USA is a great channel!!! It would be great to see it come back. One of the best shows on TV last year. Please bring it back!!! Fox has no concept of a good show whatsoever.
Totally agree!!!!
usa should pick it they have more success with shows and keeping it on the same day would help so people know when its on
BRING BACK HUMAN TARGET !!!!!!!!!!!
There’s too many superficial idiots watching sensationalism like all those fake reality shows and the trashy adult animated sitcoms. It’s a poor reflection on our society when substantive shows like Human Target are canceled for lack of ratings.
I love the human target and am pissed at fox for cancelling it maybe it will be like family guy and renewed
My wife and I both really enjoyed Human Target.
Maybe there’s a revival opportunity for a special or something.
If we liked it, loads of viewers would feel the same.
Fringe was pushed to Fridays and I wanted to just backhand Fox for a dumbas$ move, but I’m glad the show survived. Human Target, I have enjoyed every episode, my whole family and my friends really find great entertainment from this series and what does Fox do, they cancel another great show. It’s funny Human Target has more viewers then Fridge by almost two times the viewers of Fridge and it get’s renewed. Even Chicago Code was canceled, it has almost the same viewers as Family Guy, which is pretty solid for a show to stick around. Fox is by… Read more »
What is going on at Fox! As soon as you get hooked on a show Fox take the show off. Why! Human Target is a good show, action, mystery and a little romance you can’t ask for a better show. Fox needs to give it another shot. There needs to be a balance with the TV shows, a variety. No more American Idols type of shows, survivor, or game shows on How to win a million dollars. Do anyone think before they act at Fox?
